Bumper crop
This morning SWAMBO reversed our Passat to the back of our neighbour Fiesta, it was a shunt and the Passat did not have any damage.
However the Fiesta has a 10 cm hairline crack at the boot lip and the hatch need a slightly more force to be shut. Our neighbour took it to the local body shop and the quote for the job included a repair to a small crease to the plate behind the bumper, which I assume is the crumple zone at the rear and repairing the crack but not replacing the bumper.
All in the quote was £400, I have no itension to take it via our insurance as the excess is around £300.
What I would like to ask ladies and jents (I know it is not an easy answer) is about the price quoted, is it sounding reasonable for what look like a minor repair job?

Sounds very reasonable - cheap in fact.
I would be wanting a new bumper and a hire car while the work was being done.
You should jump at the opportunity of getting off so lightly.0 -
excess doesn't come into it, you only have to pay that if you get your own car repaired0

If I was the neighbour I would be taking it to a decent bodyshop.

Thanks for the reply, the fix includes a courtesy car. So am i correct if I was going via my insurer (aviva) the only effect will be SWAMBO's ncd go down the pan (15 years unprotected)?Five exclamation marks the sure sign of an insane mind!!!!!

yep, plus she would have a fault claim on here record which would attract a premium loading for the next 3/5 years
this would also have to be declared on any other policies she is covered by
overall, £400 is peanuts0 -

Thanks Vaio, but I am so confused now
I had a look at two comparison sites: confused and Gocompere and on both when adding a two cars accident at fault to the tune of £700 claim to her driver profile the premiums goes up by 8 to 20 (Chauser direct, LV, esure etc') pounds.
Adding a claim 5 years x £8=£40
Paying directly to my neighbor's bank account=£400
As far as I can see this year we paid £220 car insurance on her car and if we add the claim we can potentially choose next year a comp cover at £228 (not including any potential cashback).
Did I get it wrong?
If I am the person buying the insurance (as we always doI pay and she owns) using my NCD and adding a claim under SWAMBO's (main driver) the premiums hardly goes up, am I doing this correctlyFive exclamation marks the sure sign of an insane mind!!!!!

I think you can only use your NCD on a single vehicle. So assuming you have your own car then your partner would be the main driver on the other car, using her (non-existent?) NCD.
You're doing the right thing checking out the numbers though.0 -
Just to confirm not being able to use your NCD for multiple cars:

Actually, perhaps you only have one car between you? What confused me was you referring to your partner's NCD?0
