In the last year Santander is supposed to have improved.
Can anyone with a 123 account in the last year answer the following:
1. Have they had any problems with this account?
2. What is the customer service on the account now like?
3. Where are their call centers now.

I have two 123 accounts.
No problems with either one.
Only contacted customer service by email....received prompt helpful info each time
I have no idea where the call centre is as I have never called them0 -
1. no
2. Went to my local branch in person, was introduced to the branch manager who was the most pro-active I've met in 30 years. Solved all my concerns in one visit.
3. no idea - but with the service I got in branch, I don't care!0 -
You could check out the latest MSE survey on "customer service" (however that may be defined). Appears that the overwhelming majority of the 123 account holders are quite happy with the service they get.

I have had 123s ever since they became available first, almost 2 years ago now. I also have other current accounts and the 123 is, in my experience, an excellent account if you can benefit from the cashback and interest. Can't speak about overdrafts since I don't use them.0 -
No problems here. I'm about to open another one. I have only contacted Santander once and it was about a different product, but it was a UK call centre. I seem to recall Santander have been in the news for bringing their call centres back to the UK.This is everybody's fault but mine.0

1. Have they had any problems with this account?
I've had no problems.
2. What is the customer service on the account now like?
I've found it excellent (completely different from Abbey National days).
3. Where are their call centers now.
I don't know but I had no difficulty understanding the person I spoke to.0 -
1. No.
2. Fine.
3. The last accent I spoke to was Liverpudlian. Whether thats a clue to a north-westerly location or whether this particular Liverpudlian had moved (to India, Venezuela, or Scotland for example), I don't know.0 -

1 No its a great account
2 Patchy. Generally good but sometimes you get different advice in branch to what you are told on the customer support lines.
3 Not sure, but I think still in Liverpool, although some things seem to be dealt with in Bradford.
Overall I like, my two gripes are that:
- I do not like the attitude of some branch staff, too keen to sell you new products and financial makeovers. (A Santander issue not account specific)
- I prefer the option that I had with A&L to use the local post office to pay in cheques or cash and draw out cash over the counter. I hate having to make a special trip to a branch for routine banking and then having to pay to do so in parking/fares/petrol.Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0 -
We have two 123 accounts and have no problems, joint pays 3% less tax and my Wife's pays 3% after tax (nil). Just make sure that the tax free account holds the max investment of £20,000.0

Just a thought: your wife could have 2 123s, probably still tax free, depending on her total income. We have two 123 accounts and have no problems, joint pays 3% less tax and my Wife's pays 3% after tax (nil). Just make sure that the tax free account holds the max investment of £20,000.
Of course, all money in accounts in your wife's name legally belongs to your wife.0
