Comp says " All you have to do is LIKE this post for a chance to win"

1,670 likes and just over 200 comments.

Winners were then notified by replies to their comments.

So it looks like only the 200 who left a comment got entered. :(

For Facebook comps I think it's always safer to leave a comment just in case.

I always leave a comment as I too see winners announced in reply to their comment. :o
:TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea

That's interesting. Perhaps I'll consider commenting too when it's not asked for. However I draw the line at commenting with "Liked & shared" - does my head in, and what's the point?! Say something interesting at least!! ;)

Wonder if it's worth asking these types of companies about how they pick their winners, if they always pick out only those who comment even if it's not supposed to be required..

Of course we could all just comment as well to be sure, but it seems unfair..

So Tesco PFS, Interflora - any others to keep an eye on?

Most of those use some sort of random number generators to pick up the winners. Unless they use some sort of app or rufflecopter where this function is already present (and the company doesn't really know how it works :) 0

I just thought of a good reason to comment. Publications / shops / brands use comps to enhance their social presence, so if you leave a comment and increase their reader / consumer interaction, they'll be more likely to run more comps in future as they'll see them as a good investment.

But this is really good thought. Unfortunately we have no date to verify it.

Since reading this thread, I've been keeping an eye on posts where they've just asked for a like, and have noticed a definite trend where the winner has commented. So it looks as though just liking is not going to be enough!

It amuses me when I see a list of 'Liked and shared' comments under a comp, when it clearly states just Like to enter.

Another company to watch - Soreen - recent choc soreen comp on fb they asked for L&S which about 600 ish did, 200 ish commented and all 5 winners were people who had commented...
