I enter twitter comps regularly (can't comment on Facebook as I don't have it) and if it's something I like I tend to put something witty or that I like it as I have seen several people win because of a comment they have made, although this isn't supposed to be the case! I won some Haribo on twitter I think from a comment I made as they liked it, even though it didn't ask for a comment. I would say if you have the time and you want to win it then a little message can't help!
Hope that helps
If you feel your comment helped you win with Haribo then a little message can help.;)
Hope that helps0 -
Well they replied back saying they loved my comment, favourited it, followed me and next thing you know when it ended I won and there were a number of entries! I can't see i was pulled out if a hat because it just seemed like my comment won it. Nobody else's comment was favourited or anything, but you never know it could have been coincidence but I doubt it I've seen it happen too many times on twitter!Thank you to all competition posters, your :A:A0

not sure that true , if i comment on a post be it competition or otherwise i get notifications to say someone has commented on said post , they dont have to tag me in it , so you would just keep ur eye open for competition runner ( whoever that may be ) going back to comment on their post ( hopefully to announce a winner , tagged or otherwise) !my name is Kit and im addicted to competitions , the what if is my driving force!!

I just do as they ask, if a comment is included in the instructions then I do.A strong man stands up for himself, a stronger man stands up for others.0

Another example here:

Comp says " All you have to do is LIKE this post for a chance to win"
1,670 likes and just over 200 comments.
Winners were then notified by replies to their comments.
So it looks like only the 200 who left a comment got entered.
For Facebook comps I think it's always safer to leave a comment just in case.Well, you know, my ancestry isn't all hamster.
I'm one-sixteenth wolf with, you know, a little wolverine in there somewhere.0
