Are you 'unlimited'?

Options
My TV died recently as have been watching some programmes on the net till I get a replacement. Couldn't remember my online allowance - I had a feeling that when Wanadoo changed to Orange changed to EE, it became unlimited. In fact I am sure I was told this. But on checking the monthly account emails, it seems I am still on 6GB . So then I checked how much you need for streaming TV and was shocked.
Have not had a warning about going over though. Maybe I'll just be hit by an excess charge after the month is up. Has this ever happened to anyone?
Couldn't pin down my T&Cs. It's all been confused by the repeated takeovers. There isn't even a plan of that name anymore.
What I could have done with was a temporary arrangement for one month only, as normally even just 6GB is plenty. Yet all I find is mention of moving to different contracts. There isn't even a way to contact them about this. :(

You might have got away with it - but it has nothing to do with 'T&C's' it is a Tariff issue only - and these can vary without affecting any T&C.

You may have got away with it this time. Normally you will get a notification the first time you go over the allowance rather than billed for it. 6 Gb is not a lot. I regularly stream stuff from Netflix, NowTv, iPlayer etc and my typical monthly use is around 60Gb on normal 3Mb broadband.

60GB is hardly abnormal if regular streaming is being used. I don't do any streaming but do have some background data uploads running that update one of my websites (weather info and satellite images) and my tickover rate before any use of streaming or downloading is in the order of 3GB per day.

It's only  if you get charged. I think BT ask for about £5 per 5GB over on their limited accounts which imo makes them unsuitable for many people who would not consider their usage outside the norm.
  • Agree with above, my usage used to be about 20Gb a month max then I got into netflix and it's nearer 60 to 80Gb a month so I had to get an unlimited internet deal.

I think this is what I am going to have to look at. Ironically it wouldn't cost that much more.
