I really need to hold back before I enter
I entered for the inflatable boost thingy, luckily I didn't win, I entered for beard oil....I don't know anyone with a beard, I find myself clicking on really cheap jewellery and clothing that I wouldn't use or give as a present. I had to really hold back on the horses hooves oil for goodness sake.
It's just so easy to click but need to be a bit more selective, does anyone else a problem lol ?

I tend to open every competition and then look at what it is. Sometimes I've entered for things and thought, hope I don't win! Haha!
I've entered for things with a really low "thanks count" and the prize has been amazing… as though people have missed it!
I think you kinda just go into click-happy mode and enter without thinking, but I do try and be selective on blogger comps!x
December Wins: £300 worth of board games, £500 Tesco Vouchers Best Win in 2023: £500 Tesco Vouchers0 -
Enter for everything - if you win it and don't want it sell it on
All the money you get from unwanted prizes place into a seperate bank account - then at the end of the year treat yourself to a nice holiday .......... that way your prizes have paid for the holiday
I'm off to Majorca in 7 weeks -- all paid for by unwanted prizes.... kerching0 -

Do you have OCC? (Obsessive Compulsive Comping) by any chance!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
I find I have become much more discriminative of late and have loads more red Xs on the MSE board, but it limits the number of 'oo-er-oops' moments and I only regret about 5% of my entries (ie I wonder were these really worth the time it took to enter). I also mostly avoid the RC comps nowadays unless it's a really good prize.
So long as you're having fun, what's the harm?!!=^._.^= You will always be lucky if you know how to make friends with strange cats =^._.^=0 -
I've just ended up liking a load of rubbish on twitter and fb and wish I could start again with just things I'm actually interested in, I have started x ing a lot of comps too. I'm not in it for the monetary value of things more fun of entering and winning things that I wouldn't have gone out my way to buy.
That's great you made so much from selling things by the way. X0 -
I'm trying to stop aswell, the Cushelle Koalas was my wake up call. I took them into Oxfam before Christmas, they finally put them out after Christmas with the santa hats cut off!______________________________________0

My 1st year as a comper - I entered for everything

Ditto to this.
I find that on here we tend to fall into two distinct camps - the "enter everything" compers and the "selective" compers.
I'm one of the latter I'm afraid - I am not averse to entering for small prizes, but strictly things either I or my immediate family would like. I have no interest in accumulating a box or cupboard full of unwanted prizes, I don't have time to try & win prizes to give to charity or prizes that "somebody could find a use for", I have a limited amount of time available daily and I concentrate on entering for prizes I'd be thrilled to win, be it a mascara, a DVD, a book or bottle of wine, as well as the obvious tvs, laptops etc! (Yet to win a big ticket item so the little wins keep me going)
We each have our own ways of comping that suit us, and if you have the time and inclination to get click happy and enter everything then best of luck - no doubt you'll end up with some really great prizes as well as stuff like beard oil!0 -
I've had some great wins both this year, (my fave two being in my sig which is from a year ago - i just haven't got round to changing it) and in the past few years but like you I don't do it for the monetary value - more just a hobby to relax after work and its quite a soothing hobby ! Its nice to get surprises when you know if your lucky enough to win it will be something you actually want or like. My only exception is dvds and books i havent heard of as I am very open to new generes and authors.
Maybe give it a try just entering for things you like/want and see how you get on. So long as your having fun and enjoying yourself thats the main thing xx:j First prizes back into comping after a break - romantic break to 2 to Venice/ Paris or Rome with romantic trip and a 42 inch TV and blu Ray amazing !
Thank you all so much and good luck guys and girls xxxxxx0 -
I'm selective, and apart from a few retweets often enter none on each page of 20 comps.0

I only enter for things I want, but that includes things I want to gift to family members too.0
