Hi
My Sky tv package is coming up for renewal and am loathed to pay £70 a month for the families package of sky sports, bt sport, sky movies and sky broadband for the main room. Im not massively up to date with the latest ways to access sports and movies etc so was hoping someone could help with finding a cheaper and efficient way
I was looking at changing to plusnet fibre unlimited broadband with half price bt sport costing total £29/ mth.
Netflix connected broadband to replace sky movies. £5.99/mth
Stream live sports via broadband instead of the skysports package. £0/mth
Heres where im confused. I dont know what equipment is best to get netflix and to stream live sports in the most efficient manner to watch on the tv. I currently use my laptop to stream some sport but obviously have to find website, connect hdmi's between devices etc etc etc.
i know there are things like roku boxes, now tv boxes, dongles for tv's but i dont know much about them.
I have a the following:
wifi ready non smart tv that has a slot for a dongle
non smart blu ray player
Sky+hd box
Thanks for any assistance

It's renewed every month. You are on a rolling contract which you have to formally cancel. I assume you mean that you are coming to the end of the minimum term?steve99990_4 wrote: »My Sky tv package is coming up for renewal
There are plenty of ways to watch live sport via broadband, but only the illegal methods are significantly cheaper than Sky.. As such, they cannot be discussed here and any attempt to do so will be swiftly deleted.0 -

now tv is expensive for the sports unless you watch 1 football match once a month at 10.00 pound for a 24 hour pass.
if out of contract sky may offer you half price 12 months if you threaten to leave ,remember sky hd and sky now are to different entities same kind of name but different product
then there is bt youview but you need to have a bt line and broadband can be expensive but dont think 70,00 a month expensive
me i have vm tivo and a seperate broadband phone line provider so my tivo costs 22,00 a month for mplus ,or if you have the xl package you get bt sport as well for 32.00 a month it has its own built in 10 meg broadband but only for netflix youtube and catch up
word of warning watching football on the internet is slow popup adds and who nows what else is being filtered onto your laptop so if you use your laptop pc etc for banking or buying it will have an increased chance of being compromised
if you have a orange phone contract or i think vodaphone as well now :oyou can watch skysports for free and over wifi picture is not brilliant but it is legal and a lot more safe0
