PLUSNET - So Far - So Good

Options
Hi Folks
Just to say Im well pleased, moved from BT Fibre to Plusnet Fibre - whole thing has took just ten days, Plusnet kept me updated all the time by SMS and Email, instructions were very clear and no hiccups.Smooth transition, BT Bband went off at midnight last night, fitted router at 7.30am (Plusnet) and 30 secs later we were on. Excellent Service and much cheaper. Hope it carries on like this. Im well pleased I moved.

No issues here with Plusnet. O2 ADSL to fibre took 2 weeks and the engineer came on time which i wasnt expecting after reading some reviews.

    Quicker than i expected.

Only issue i had was no router when the engineer came. But they sent me another and the original turned up many weeks later by a neighbour who forgot the postman gave them to them.

Did you phone BT and let them know you have moved to Plusnet??

So it's like changing the sign from Abbot to Bishop's Finger on a pump lever in a pub. You are probably on exact the same fibre connection as before.

It does present an interesting money saving procedure whereby I switch back and forth between BT and Plusnet, picking up cashback and promotional deals every time the contract matures.

I've been pleased with the Plusnet connection since my swap to them from VM a couple of months back. I did have a small blip at the outset when my account hadn't been activated and that was fixed via the forum fairly quickly. As I'd still got the cable connection I wasn't offline at all but a new installation would have been delayed a little.

They are not perfect but no ISP is. Hopefully the new call centre will stop more of the complaints I see about long call wait times although my real hope is that I'll never have to test that out.

I always use cashback when swapping but I'm not sure I'd want to risk BT who I see lots of complaints about.

The £100 Sansburys voucher from BT is remarkably hard to shift this time round. You can't buy petrol and cigarettes, and not even lottery tickets. Starting from some time last year, it's not accepted in the Sainsburys petrol stations at all, so I have to go to the main store to buy a newspaper.

Not too sure what to do with the £50 Love2shop vouchers from Plusnet, either. Wouldn't mind a dash cam for collecting evidence for car accidents, but the Halfords (who takes Love2shop) selection is pretty limited. I wish Garmin would bring out a Sat Nav with a dash cam built in, which will be so much neater.

I just switched from Sky to Plusnet and the whole process was very efficient. Phone line was down for half an hour during the port and broadband came back immediately after the line was activated. The only bad thing with Plusnet is you have to have your own router as the free one they give you is very basic and doesn't have proper NAT settings. Also glad they managed to keep my same phone number moving from LLU to BT wholesale.
