Stolen Wheelie Bin!

The second time now, my wheelie bin has gone missing. Having walking around the block on 2 occasions, I have found my bin in the garden that lives at the back of me.
I have to keep going in there garden and taking my bin back, it is becoming a joke!.
They clearly don't have a bin of there own, and they are taking mine.
Is there anywhere I can report this too? I don't want to go as far as the police for something so silly.. what about the council? I have there address etc, maybe they could send a formal letter?

Have you got your house number on it? Neighbours keep doing this to my mums bin, she marked her number on the side.
I dont think the council would get involved to be honest, Im not sure the local housing office would either.0 -
Make / buy a stencil with your house number and road name, spray-paint these details on front and back of bin (after giving the surfaces you'll be spraying a wash to ensure paint sticks, lol).
Job done.0 -
Maybe they think it is their bin and are about to complain about you stealing it!0

Number on bin is best.
We had the same problem our bin going missing and a lady a few doors away claimed it as hers .
After we waylaid the bin men on the next collection day one of the guys confessed that her bin had been crushed when they were emptying the lady's and they had posted a note in her door to call the refuse department for a replacement.
Obviously she had not noticed the note when we told her she said that she threw any leaflets in the bin...lolLight travels faster than sound.
This is why some people seem as bright until you hear them.0 -
Oh the numbers on it alright! The number is painted on every side HUGE. Still doesn't stop them.0

Can you let the Council know someone has stolen yours and they may give you a new one.Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End
You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time0 -

I know the housing association local to us insists people report the theft to the police before they replace the bin (no crime number means you pay for a replacement as they replace them for tenants).
I'd be asking them. There wouldn't be hesitation if someone repeatedly attempted to steal something else worth £40/£50 a time from you.0 -

Sent the council, and local police a quick email to see where I can go from here.
