  • If anyone is still having any issues with these callers or with their gas/electricity supply I would be more than happy to help you. I have previously worked at the BES call centre so I do understand what you are going through, I am now working for a consultancy company where we are offering assistance to anyone struggling and we will be with you all the way through any process that is required.

    Ha! The irony.

A brokerage trying to fix the damage caused by the woefully poorly regulated energy broker industry.

    Steer clear methinks.
  • So glad I found this forum! WOW, where do I start? :naughty:

I recently opened up a new business and I have started to receive lots of calls from utility brokers, in particular Energisave. They were by far the most aggressive and eventually I took their call to get them off my back.

They told me that they were in charge of change of tenancy and had been put in place by OFGEM. They claim that they do not get paid for anything they do.

They have tried to quote me prices for both my shop and next door as well. why I would want to change next doors electricity, I have no idea? I assume this is to benefit from another payday.

Then then gave me what I later found out to be fake prices for several suppliers including British Gas, Scottish Power and Npower. They recommended a supplier I had never heard of called OPUS, no surprise after reading the previous threads hey!

Ironically their prices for OPUS were significantly more expensive than other brokers had given me, does this mean they can charge what they want ripping people off and earn more money??

Best part is I RECORDED the whole conversation and have since forwarded this to OFGEM/OPUS and the UIA.

OPUS are looking into what they call the miss sell allegations (how it can be an allegation when its all recorded I have no idea!!!).

The lady at OPUS says they have the power to terminate Energisave, be interesting to see if they do anything or if they are actually in cahoots with them.

If anyone want a copy of this recording please PM me and ill happily share this.
  • Not every brokerage is trying to push people into a contract, as I said, I used to work there and do that and I didn't enjoy it. Luckily I've managed to find another brokerage who have taken me on who don't aim to push their clients into contracts with suppliers that they don't want to be with.

The reason that I was offering assistance was that we are currently dealing with a number of people going through issues with their suppliers and we are helping them.

I would imagine most people with a business supply are familiar with a solicitor. This is to whom I would turn if I were in a situation where I'd inadvertantly signed with these cowboys.

May I ask how you're helping? I assume it isn't purely altruistic - this is a money saving website, people aren't allowed to tout for business here.

The business energy sector is woefully inadequately regulated. At least with the residential sector, the price off the shelf is what you pay, any intermediary is paid by the supplier. With the business sector, extra margin is added on by the broker, so the consumer never knows if they've got a good deal or not!

The fact remains that going direct will get you a better price in 99% of cases. If you value your time better than that which it takes to phone around 20 suppliers, fine, pay a broker. But on a money saving forum, it really should be pointed out that brokers are an unnecessary frippery. More people either go direct or use a quango like GPS/CCS/LASER, than use brokers. I can't see any reason for this position to change.

    Hi MamasKitchen,

I'm very interested in hearing this recording of yours. I've sent you a personal message and if you can reply to that, that'll be great.

    Thanks :)

    Hi MamasKitchen,

That recording is shocking I can't believe that brokers can get away with those sales tactics.

You need to send the recording to the UIA - Rod Sinden will be very interested in this! :)
  • Thought I'd check a flyer we received offering a 'Free EV Charging Pod for Your Home' from an organisation called energisave! Googled it and read with interest the comments on the forum. The web address on the flyer is energisave.org which doesn't show on Google so assume its probably another suspect attempt by this company. No address on the flyer, but telephone dialling code is 01253 - (Blackpool & Fylde) which would tie in the locality indicated in earlier postings.

Thought it may be useful to share this with others.

Obviously not taking them up! ,
  • AVOID ENERGISAVE AT ALL COSTS!

After I received call from this company claiming they work with registering changes of lease and work with all the energy providers, I was tricked in to changing to Opus Energy. I was told i would not be changing supplier... Next thing i know, i get a welcome pack from Opus. After being called a liar, as the cow on the phone said she's listened to the recording and apparently i knew i would change supplier. I have a copy of the recording and this recording proves i did not know i would be changing. I have a apology from opus but i want something done about these people.
