Switching to Sky Broadband question

Options
For the past 2 years, I have used Talk talk for my landline and broadband. I now wish to change to Sky, mainly due to appalling broadband speeds, and the fact that our broadband now goes down whenever the landline is used! Sadly, no Virgin in our area.

My contract with Talktalk is up on 22 April, and I want to find a way to ensure that the switchover goes ahead on that date, and also whether I can automatically keep my old landline number. Also, is there a way with Sky to prepay the line rental for a year, to benefit from a discount?

I am hoping that someone here can answer these questions, as I am trying to do this through quidco to benefit from a £125 cashback, and see that Sky appear to have a policy of rejecting a huge number of cashback claims if you have spoken to them at all, as they can then claim that it was not wholly completed online.

You can pay Sky line rental 12 months up front but only on the phone.

Your speed and telephone issues won't be solved by changing ISP.

Hmm, can you? One of the reasons I chose not to switch my landline to Sky was that they appeared to have withdrawn the ability to pay a year up front.

Sky withdrew the line rental saver at the end of December and, unlike last time, when they claimed problems with managing up front account payments, they do not plan to reinstate the facility.
