£72.50 for a passport renewal - wow!

I agree with the op. It seems pretty steep for a little book. Feel sorry for families who may need to fork out for more than one.
I think about 30-40 quid is a fair price IMHO.
Before labour got in they weren't too expensive. If they were still in I reckon the price would be £100 by now."fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts." (Bertrand Russell)0 -
I'm not saying the doctors don't have a right to charge, but because Mse is a money saving forum i'm pointing out a way that the Op, and any others may be able to save themselves the cost of a signature.
Hence suggesting people actually look at the full example list as its very long:

It even has a Manager of a VAT registered company, so pretty much a manager in a company that is anything bigger than a tiny SME0 -

They get 10 years between each one to save for it. How many of these poor families pay for sky television?Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -
Considering it wasnt that long ago (10 yrs) it was £30.0

The one change I would like to see is the lowering of the age where you can get a free passport as at the moment it is 85. My parents are 80 and in fading health so they are reluctant to spend £150 between them on new 10 year passports.0

We "legalised our kids". Then never needed passports. Now it'll cost us the best part of £300 to get the whole family paperworked & that's renewals, not from scratch.
"Families do not have to holiday overseas!" - no & just as well.
My lads have missed out on school & Scout trips because they didn't have valid passports though. We considered a rolling renewal program, but that would guarantee the child who was not up to date would get the opportunity!0 -
Surely if someone cannot find the money for a passport over 10 years, then they cannot afford the travel.Save £200 a month : [STRIKE]Oct[/STRIKE] Nov Dec Jan Feb Mar Apr0

Yep, British children born after 4 October 1998 need their own passports...
