    Hi penpipstop,

We didn't even bother going down to be honest! In the end we didnt think there was any point! We have booked an alternative venue in yateley (hotel and is fabulous, better than the georgian we think), so not too far and managed to pay the same price with even more guests in the evening!! We've pushed it back untill march next year considering the money we have lost and thought it would be nice for a spring wedding.. this new place is lovely, ive told them the whole situation and they are more than happy to bend over backwards for us! Have you managed to find a new venue? I will be cancelling the georgian tomorrow and we will definitely be writing to the administrators to get our money back!

We have found this - since rebooking we have explained what has happened to all of the people we are now dealing with and they have made quite a few extra concessions for us (they are fairly lenient anyway) to try reduce stress, I was basically a bumbling wreck terrified it would all go wrong by the time I got to them!!

I'm not sure how you paid but if you paid on credit card I would definitely write to the administrators to get your paperwork etc but I would contcat your card provider - we did and they took the paperwork, gave us our money back and they are now dealing with it (my Mum paid on credit card for this reason and paid it back in total straight away). Otherwise consider claiming from insurance if you have any? The process of getting money back via administrators is long and the debt they owe you is probably small in comparison to most of their debts so you may not get your money back in a hurry - if ever!

Hello fellow (stressed) brides! Im sorry I hadnt realised there had been more posts on this thread as annoying I dont get notifications to new posts or private messages.
Im sorry to hear you two have been in the same situation as us. Your weddings are further on than ours (11 wks now) for us so we have decided to keep ours where it is in case of course we are forced to change it! Its been a huge worry & stressful time but after speaking to Geoff (Administrator) twice we have decided to take the risk & stay with them. If our booking was months ahead like yours I think I would be more inclined to cancel it. Did you both cancel yours in the end?
We have found a plan B option basically a pub function room that is available (not ideal but beggars cant be choosers now) they have held the date for us for now so we know that we can at least have our reception.
Has anyone found any more out about the situation at the Hollybourne Hotels?

Acoogan, forgot to ask which Hotel did you book in Yately? It might be an option for us if we really do get stuck in the end!

    Hiya,

Weve booked the casa hotel, the food is from the wheelers restaurant on site (marco pierre white) it is fabulous!! We are so chuffed with it and my h2b n I think its even better than the georgian. I hope everything goes well with your big day seeing as its sooo close! We just couldnt take the risk with ours being so far away!

Thanks for your reply Annie, I thought it must have been Casa Hotel you have booked. I looked at their website last night but there isn't much in the way of pics or info on there. Have they got quite nice grounds there for photos? I might email them to see if its available on our date just in case we need to consider it last minute as a back up option. We are having our ceremony at Guildford Reg office so its not exactly near but its not far from where we live really, Church Crookham.

  • It's scary but can happen to any venue you book. The venue sounds as though they are being honest & upfront with you, a key factor in any booking. Look into your rights, if you have insurance you'll be covered - that's what it's there for. My advice is to stick with the venue. Legally they have to inform you of the administration. I've done some research and it's been a few months since administration was announced and they're still trading with weddings as well as hotel bookings. Nothing is guaranteed so don't let these words scare you.
  • I hope you get to see this new message as its a year later, but I am booked in at the same venue. Well the Manor House Hotel but what annoys me more is I booked my wedding in October 2014 WHILST they were in administration and they never even told me. As I wouldn't of booked it knowing that. We only found out today there are new owners when my uncle called the venue to book a room as all invites have gone out, were 16 weeks away and the service he received was appaling so my uncle txt me, so I called the venue to be put on hold 20 mins put through to 3 different people, finally got to speak to a manager who informed me they took over 2 weeks ago after the administration, I KNEW NONE OF THIS. nobody has contacted me to tell me this. The venue sounds in dire straits, all the staff have gone, they have ripped up all the gardens ( were getting married outside) I am going there on Saturday for crisis talks but just wondered if your wedding went ahead in the end and was it ok? Anyone please help

Hiya Emma, that's totally disgraceful!!! I cannot believe the hotel would doing something like that!! When the Georgian house hotel went into administration we received a phone call two weeks later!! We couldn't bring our selves to go through with it and hope for the best so we cancelled! I do think its disgusting that they would continue to take bookings even though they were in administration! Were now due to get married at the casa hotel in Camberley in 2 weeks!!! They are amazing and so helpful! Unlike the service we received at the Georgian! I hope it does all work out and the new owners take huge drastic measures at sorting the places out along with the other hotels they own!! It would be interesting to know who bought them as the manager of our current venue said they were looking at them as a potential purchase!!! Annie x
  • They have all been sold seperatly so it's a private owner. I'm so upset that they could even take our money knowing that if anything went wrong we were too late to claim back from administrators as they have been sold now so new owner doesn't owe us anything. Roll on saturday when I get there I am going to let rip!!!!
  • I hope it all worked out well x
