Wedding venue Hotel just gone into administration

We just found out this week that our reception Hotel has gone into administration. Its 14 weeks until our wedding & now I am in a dilemma, do we try & find somewhere else or stick with it & hope they are still trading by then?
I have been told both by the Hotel & the administrators that prior wedding bookings are being honored but they cant give me a cast iron guarantee what will happen in the coming weeks. Eventually the Hotel & 4 others in the group will be sold but that's not likely to happen before our big day.
Has anyone been in this situation before or know anything about this sort of thing?
We dont have insurance & so far have only paid a fairly small deposit on a credit card.
Any help or advice would be good please!?

Me too! Hope it works out well for you bothWe're all doomed0 -
I would start looking elsewhere as you really don't want the stress of being 4 weeks away and its closed for business.. Good luck with your search but think of it this way - hopefully you are lucky and your hotel only does 1 wedding at a time - which means you are the only couple looking to 'rebook' for that day. Keep us posted OP (this happened to me with much more noticed and I am SOOO much happier with my new venue!!):j Married to the Love of my Life 02.08.2014 - Now I'm Mrs E :j

Which venue is it? I'd start looking for a new venue

Have you insurance?
14 weeks is a long time to worry - I'd be looking at a backup if not full on "alternate" venue.
Try to think of it as a feature, not a bug?!0 -

OP states they don't have insurance but have luckily only paid a small deposit on credit card.
By that respect Angel when my venue went into liquidation my Mother was able to claim the deposit back via her credit card insurance - they will cover anything over £100 so long as you have documentation to prove your claim (so we have our liquidation paperwork):j Married to the Love of my Life 02.08.2014 - Now I'm Mrs E :j

I am looking around for somewhere else but its not easy! We are on a tight budget its quite a small wedding & I am trying to find somewhere with ideally guest rooms or at least nearby otherwise guests have to get cabs after. Oh & us! The trouble is if we cancel it now & find somewhere else we dont like as much & then find out the original hotel is still trading on the wedding date we will be gutted. Unless of course we find somewhere nicer on our budget but I doubt that. & some family have booked rooms there now so if we move venues will they still be liable to pay for the rooms? Dont want to cost people more money.
I did speak to the administrators last night & he said that everything should be ok, things were running as usual, staff had been paid etc but of course couldnt give me a cast iron guarantee all would be ok by June.
It's a real dilemma.0 -

What is the venue? Where are you based? We might be able to find you somewhere?0 -

It's The Farnham House Hotel in Farnham Surrey. We are getting married at the Reg Office Guildford so need somewhere either near there, say Godalming, Farnham. I have sent a few emails out & spoken to a couple of places today. There are some that are available but mostly out of our price range.
The one thing about the Farnham House Hotel was that it was reasonably priced with nice grounds for pics & guest bedrooms. I am still pinning my hopes on having it there at the moment.0 -

ANGEL... my partner and I have our wedding booked with the same group (georgian house hotel, haslemere) for end of december this year!! So along wait and anything can happen! Weve spoken to both the hotel and administration team and they have assured us the wedding will be going ahead. But we are both very sceptical! We couldnt believe when we got our phone call yesterday! We dont know whether to cancel and look else where or just go with it! We were so happy with the deal we got also and were also on a budget! :eek:0
