Iphone sale and activation date differs to date I received it

Ive a technical problem with the WIFI on my Vodafone Iphone 4s.

I visited the apple store for advise and they told me to see the company that supplied it as it is out of warentee.

No problem i thought but as part of the process the Apple fella told me my phone was sold and registered on 24th September 2012. Vodafone confirmed this but also stated that I didnt received the phone until 29th November.

This means that the phone was sold and registered 2 months before I received it. Surely this means the phone wasnt brand new when it got to me and in fact was 2nd hand.

Anyone have any opinions/advice here as the handset needs replacing due to the fault and while Vodafone agree to cover the cost of repair they wont confirm that they will replace the handset if required (which it is).

cheers

BG
One day some company will do what they say they will do and charge a fair charge.:T

Not doing the opposite of that which they promise and charge you a fortune for the privileged. :(

Do Voda install their own software like they do with Android phones?

Maybe thats why it appears to be registered earlier than the date you got it?

Was the box sealed with everything as it should be when you got it? But its lasted over 2 years so its not like they gave you a crappy reject.

Its lasted a little over a year Nov 2012 to feb 2014!

The box was completely sealed and I would have rejected it if not.

I got it from Vodafone but surely they cant dish out phones that have lost 2 months off the manufacturers warranty?

It really doesn't matter - your warranty is 12 months and it is your retailer that is liable. Unless you extended it, then it has expired the 2 month difference is unusual, but nonetheless of no interest as it as expired whichever date you used.

Apple will permit an non warranty replacement if you pay the fee - which would be the sensible way to go.

    Hi biggaz26,

Thanks for making me aware of your concerns.

The phone you were supplied with may have been returned to us unopened due to a change of mind by another customer.

In regard to repairing or replacing phones, we'd usually offer a repair in the first instance unless the customer had had the phone for 7 working days or less.

Naturally, if the phone can't be repaired, and the reported fault is covered under the manufacturer's warranty, a replacement would then be issued.

I hope this clarifies things for you.

    Kind regards,

    Lee
