New Boiler from British Gas

  • You don't need the BG homecare agreement & mine was automatically cancelled when I had my new boiler fitted, however remember it doesn't start up automatically when your free boiler cover comes to an end.
  • I've had a new boiler fitted by British Gas = I've paid waaayyyy more than I should for my boiler. It really is that simple. It has no place on a money saving site. :)

Surely that is grounds for expulsion from the ranks of MSE.

The op is being charged nothing for homecare, not sure how that equates to being charged handsomely.

He's almost certainly alluding to the fact that you could get a comparable boiler fitted elsewhere for a fraction of what BG will charge to fit one. Any "free" cover is therefore being paid for in another form.

Possibly, but the quote will list everything individually and the homecare cover will be costed as 0.00. If you decide you don't want it the quote will be reduced by 0.00 therefore it's free.

I don't think the op asked for any advice on the cost of the install, they may have had several quotes and chosen the best for them like anyone with an ounce of sense would do. Bg often come out with excessive prices but not always and what sort of 'moneysaver' would discount a supplier based on 3rd hand (often) outdated hearsay?......pretty useless one I would offer.
