Had an item on BIN and auction tonight and with only 2 hours to go someone bought it.
Gave details, of when available for pick up only to receive a message stating;
Sorry didn't realise you were 150 miles away. So have now had to open a case to cancel, and as yet had no reply from buyer.
Do I have to sit and wait till buyer agrees and replies? as I want to relist the item.
Thanks

Looking forward to the day I have nothing left to list on eBay

Bad move to offer cancellation - if buyer refuses you're out your FVFs. However, you may be lucky if buyer ignores it totally you can then close the case after 7 days and get your fees back.
I would have waited 2 days and filed NPB. That way buyer gets a strike when they [hopefully] don't pay and you are guaranteed your fees back. You do however risk SNAD if they do then pay if they then decide you should suffer for their lack of reading.
Do not relist until this item has been cancelled otherwise you could have 1 item and 2 buyers able to leave feedback!
This is one reason that I a) don't offer collection only b)require instant payment on BINs - transaction doesn't complete until buyer goes through checkout and it's still open to other buyers.0 -

You jumped on another thread with a query on this, please keep queries in your thread.
Did you open the cancellation, as you seem to suggest in your other post?0 -
Had a similar thing myself this weekend, I listed a 'cash on collection only' bit of furniture. Someone from London bid on it which is about 250 miles away. Silence from them when I asked them what their collection plans were, but a very quick acceptance when I sent a Cancellation Request.
I do a lot of collection only stuff, and I think at least 30% go to people who are well outside the collection zone and clearly are in no position to come and collect it.
I don't know if folks are just dozy or using Ebay with their eyes shut - I think it would be useful for collection items if you could block buyers outside a certain radius, as buyers just don't seem to be able to read, or grasp distances a worrying large minority of the time!0 -

Posted on other thread, then realised was hi-jacking someone else's thread, so started my own!!

Have indeed opened a case as everyone advised - cancel transaction, block buyer and then relist. Seems I should not have asked to cancel.
Is there another way to cancel the transaction?Looking forward to the day I have nothing left to list on eBay0 -

I meant a reply from the buyer, soolin.
You mentioned in Jessicarabbits1982 thread that similar happened to you and you just cancelled it all only for the buyer to buy again.
How did you cancel it all? by asking the buyer to cancel the transaction?Looking forward to the day I have nothing left to list on eBay0 -

Yep, my buyer had already paid so I could only do a mutual. Unfortunately I tackled the refund and then the mutual before I blocked the buyer, in future I will remember to block them first and then do the rest!
All these little expenses do add up though. 20p PayPal fee for the refund and a new BIN listing fee, and that's why I always block these buyers. If I remember correctly, that particular buyer never responded to the mutual either and so it timed out in my favour. Meanwhile she had bought another identical one from the same listing (it was a multiple listing)I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Unfortunately you may need to wait I think it's 7 days before you can Cancel if the buyer doesn't reply.
In many ways I'd do an Unpaid Item dispute as you can close these in 6 days, and make sure you can't get left any feedback.
I took a calculated gamble on this to ask for a Cancel, as my default usually is an Unpaid Item case but the item was only 30 quid and it was pretty obvious someone wasn't going to do a an 8 hour round trip to come and get it.0 -

How did you cancel it all? by asking the buyer to cancel the transaction?
You do all cancellation requests via the resolution centre.
A NPB (non paying bidder) can be opened when a buyer hasn't paid. Open it on day 2 and close it 4 days later. As long as the buyer doesn't pay they get a strike (two and it's difficult to bid) and neither party can leave feedback. Fees are refunded.
Simple.
Cancelling on the other hand is a threefold approach.
1. Cancel. Buyer declines, seller gets stuck with fees and both can leave feedback.
2. Cancel. Buyer ignores, seller will get fees back after 7 days and can close case. Both parties can leave feedback.
3. Cancel. Buyer agrees. Sellers fees are immediately reimbursed, both parties can leave feedback.0
