Some buyers are just plain Daft

Yep, my buyer had already paid so I could only do a mutual. Unfortunately I tackled the refund and then the mutual before I blocked the buyer, in future I will remember to block them first and then do the rest!

All these little expenses do add up though. 20p PayPal fee for the refund and a new BIN listing fee, and that's why I always block these buyers. If I remember correctly, that particular buyer never responded to the mutual either and so it timed out in my favour. Meanwhile she had bought another identical one from the same listing (it was a multiple listing)

My buyer had not paid, so did I have an alternative option, then?

I did block the buyer straightaway though.

My problem is; its an item of furniture that I wanted rid of as soon as. Which is why I only listed for a very short period on BIN. Now I may have it hanging around for another week!!!! if buyer does not agree to my cancellation. Ohhhhhh.....
Looking forward to the day I have nothing left to list on eBay
  • You do all cancellation requests via the resolution centre.

A NPB (non paying bidder) can be opened when a buyer hasn't paid. Open it on day 2 and close it 4 days later. As long as the buyer doesn't pay they get a strike (two and it's difficult to bid) and neither party can leave feedback. Fees are refunded.

    Simple.

Cancelling on the other hand is a threefold approach.

    1. Cancel. Buyer declines, seller gets stuck with fees and both can leave feedback.
    2. Cancel. Buyer ignores, seller will get fees back after 7 days and can close case. Both parties can leave feedback.
    3. Cancel. Buyer agrees. Sellers fees are immediately reimbursed, both parties can leave feedback.

NPB - still got item for the next 6 days at least.

    1. Cancel and buyer declines - does this mean their bid still stands?

Either way looks like I will have this item hanging around for at least the next week or so, and I wanted rid of - quick.

Will certainly make me think again if I ever need to get something out of the house quickly.

If buyer declines there is still no mechanism to make them pay up and you lose your FVfs.

I have had buyers ask to cancel and then decline......
