    Afternoon all

I just have a little cash book, that I write in - money in, money out and keep that in line with bank accounts etc, which I check daily via online banking. I could put it all on the pc using a spreadsheet but find my little cash book the right way for me. I don't think anyone who checks daily is obsessive at all, it's really important nowadays to know the activity going on in your bank accounts - not only so you can keep your finances straight but make sure you're not being targeted with ID fraud or someone hasn't cloned your bank or credit card. At least we all know when there's too much month left at the end of the money!

Have a good Friday everyone x

  • I do this too! I don't use spreadsheets though, but I use YNAB and have the app on my phone so I can log spending as I go and if I overspend a category I have to get back to my PC asap so I can tweet my budget and make that category "green" again.

Anna - if spreadsheets scare you then YNAB might be the answer. There is a 34 day free trial and after that it is £29.99 on steam, although often it comes on sale - or you can attend lots of their free online classes in the hope of winning a copy (I attended lots and didn't win, but they do give a copy away every single class).

Debts @ LBM:£43,546  Debts now: £9,486  78% PAID
Found YNAB 1/2/14 - the best thing EVER!
  • I am a also a closet spreadsheeter :D I have all my finances on a spreadsheet both incoming's and outgoing's. :T
  • I have a spreadsheet of sorts. I've just drawn columns and rows in a notebook, detailed all the outgoing bills, amounts and the date they come out. When they get taken out from the bank i tick them off month by month.

I check my bank every other day and regularly check my CC account online too.
My main obsession is updating my signature on here :rotfl: everytime i pay off a little bit :D

  • I do my debts spreadsheet every Monday, alot of weekend involve going to football etc that as costs so by doing it every Monday I know where i stand
Glad to have found a fellow football fan, its something I've had to cut back on this season. My 17yr old has taken over that baton and spends his life trying to raise funds for his next away day. Judging by your name, that's not the cheapest team to follow either! Ours is getting that way, bit of a clue, we are still in 4 competitions so that next match is never far away. Good luck (with the debt busting, not the league though, lol)

  • Phew, glad to hear I'm normal. I check my bank daily (more than once) and my spread-sheet is sick of the sight of me! I spend ages tinkering with it and update it daily. Do feel guilty at wishing my life away sometimes when payday seems so far away.

I also have lists tucked away in my purse (keep meaning to get a notebook) which I look at several times a day just to check that I'm on track, or not as the case usually is.
