I am now actually over £500 pound in credit and recently had the absurd situation that even after a recent meter read which I could actually see on my login account - Npower say this wasn't visible to them at their end and that they also need my new and old meter serial numbers which surely they should have via the guy who just updated my meter - their agent! The whole thing stinks so don't believe the theory when the practice is a absolute shambles. Once I have my money, it's bye bye Npower and good riddance.
This is simply not true, ring them back and ask for a refund using your readings or ask to speak to a manager if they won't do it.
If you gave readings and you were £500 in debt do you think they'd send a meter reader out to check?Make £2018 in 2018 Challenge - Total to date £2,1080 -
I've been with nPower for gas only since I moved in 14 years ago
For at least the last 3 years, I've been in credit consistently every month by £100 - £200
Whenever I've contacted nPower about it, they've given me some excuse and fobbed me off
I last contacted them in May on the back of my last quarterly "bill" in March. My annual review due in June, I advised I'd worked out I must be in credit by around £200. They denied - I told them my usage had gone down considerably over 12 months, so how could I be paying more since my monthly direct debits had been put up in January
They said the "bill" was based on estimates - 1 estimated reading in 3 months and 3 estimated within 12 months
I came away having been refused a refund and very angry and decided it was time to vote with my feet. I provided meter readings every 2 -3 weeks in protest
I was going to go to OVO has that had the best cashback, but the application didn't go through for some reason. When checking again, the best deal was First Utility with the best cashback
The switching process was very clear and as quick as it could be with no issues. It's only been 2 weeks, but so far very happy and nearly £50 per month better off. The query I raised about adding a nominated authorised person to the account was dealt with quickly and there was no question over what I was asking for
It's fixed until August next year, so free to look around again when due to end
My nPower account has now been closed and the final bill is in - let's take a guess at how much I'm in credit by?! Yes, just over £200. If refund is not received promptly, I'll being complaining straight to the ombudsman as I also have an unresolved complaint
I was with EDF for electricity and have yet to receive my final bill. I'm not expecting to get a refund, but they've so far sent me 2 letters inviting me back. Not a chance, although they were always reasonable and customer service was OK
So nPower - you are liars and fraudsters ( if not down right crooks), so goodbye and good riddance0
