Cheap Talkmobile Contract deal for Basic phone
I was looking for a basic mobile for an elderly relative who mainly texts and uses the mobile to make a couple short calls a day.
I managed to find a Nokia 206 phone with 100 anytime all network minutes (inc voicemail), 3500 texts and 100mB data per month for £3.74 a month for 24 months. This deal is via mobiles.co.uk with Talkmobile.
The monthly payment is £12 of which there are 5 periodic cashback redemptions over the 24 months, of around £39 which means the real cost per month is £3.74. Get a further £27 cashback with Quidco and the real cost per month of this tariff and brand new phone is about £2.70 per month.
Surely this must be the cheapest deal in the UK?

Buy an Ovivo sim at £20 no monthly charges - 250 mins, texts and Internet for free. All you need is a mobile either unlocked or (i think) on the vodaphone network
Life is a coin, you can spend it anyway you wish, but you can only spend it once.
Go as far as you can see, and when you get there you'll see further.

Nokia 206 is £15 at CPW on PAYG upgrade, but for other basic phones prices start from 50p (with some quidco cashback on the top). However, an elderly person may prefer something like Doro 506 for £8 or Doro 612 for £30.
If your relative can survive with 300 texts, then 250m+300t p.m. are free at Ovivo for one-off £20.0 -
I wouldn't use a contract at all for such low usage on a mobile phone. I'd go with Ovivo.0

OK, you are all perfectly correct, and I missed this one !
Great opportunity for the next elderly relative though...0 -
I'd be concerned about relying on cashbacks for an elderly relative. They can be laborious an time-consuming to0

mobiles.co.uk are still going though - I've had my current contract with cashback through them for the last 18 months, and the cashback is still coming through with no problems.0
