Hope your DH gets some offers soon. We went through similar five years ago so I've an idea how you're feeling, I found it so unsettling but we got through it ok and it didn't knock us far off track, I hope the same is true for you x
Fantastic job on the overpayments
We're consciously trying to reduce the amount we spend on household stuff but we're not using it for overpayments - not yet anyway. We pay everything from a joint billing account that we each put an equal amount into but up to the end of last year, I'd say at least 10 months in 12 we have to top up the joint from our own accounts. However....March was the third month on the trot we haven't had to do it :j We're just enjoying having a little surplus in the account at the moment! Great news. DH was offered a new job today. It's quite a bit more money than his last job however the travel costs will be more so it kind of cancels it out. He starts at the end of the month which is perfect as he gets paid from his old job until then. Such a relief, we are over the moon :jOverpayments Target for 2015 £2170 / £8000 27.1%

Its been a few weeks seince my last update. Things have beeen very busy, DH started his new job and ive been doing loads of overtime at work, havent even had a day off in about 2 weeks.
We went slightly over budget on our groceries for april coming in at £127.90/ £120 so nothing major.
Made a £700 overpayment for April but havent recieved any updated figures from Santander for my last 2 overpayments so i dont know what the amount or term has been reduced to yet,
Quite an expensive month ahead with a family wedding plus hen/ stag nights, meaning i need to get my hair cut too. A convention in Milton Keynes which will probably cost about £200 ish. A meal out with work. Then we are going to Barcelona at the begginning of June!! Hopefully we will still manage to put something aside to overpay

Phew!! Finally made it through May and the first week of June. As i predicted we spent a slightly ridiculous amount of money on the wdding etc.. Just got back from Barcelona and trying to get back on track. We havent got any more big costs until next month now so we can try to catch up a bit.
Managed to make a £500 overpayment for May which is lower than usual but still more than i expected. I have now passed the halfway mark for my yearly target :TOverpayments Target for 2015 £2170 / £8000 27.1%

Right, its time for a monthly update i think!
So things have been going really well recently. DH's new job is going great, he has settled in and everything seems stable. I managed to do just over 60 hours overtime last month which is a personal record and will go towards overpaying of course.
We managed a £1000 overpayment for June which has now taken us to 63% of our yearly target :j
We have decided that once we hit our £8000 target for this year we are going to use any extra money to book a holiday to Thailand next Spring. After all that hard work i think we will have deserved it. Im really hoping to hit the target by October so that we get two months of money towards the holiday.Overpayments Target for 2015 £2170 / £8000 27.1%

Well done, you seem to have the balance of saving and enjoying life just right! We all need something to look forward to.
Squirrel xPaid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D0 -
Just a quick numbers update. Made a £1100 OP for July which has now taken us down to £121,501 and our end date is now 25th June 2039. This means so far this year we have taken 2 years off the mortgage! Just got to push for that last £1900 for this year then we can start saving for our holiday :jOverpayments Target for 2015 £2170 / £8000 27.1%
