Ok I went for 80 blocks each weighing 120kg or 9600kg + the car pure guess work you never know
looking at the lighting rig inside i would say there were 24 blocks per length side also they son't look like full thickness on the top
ive already put my entry in though so i'm probably way out0 -

I went for 132 blocks (44 on each side, 22 on each end, no ice on roof or floor). I estimated each block to be 56 cm by 56 cm by 36 cm = 0.113 cubic m. Density of ice is 0.9167, so each block would weight about 103.5 kg.
I wont say the exact estimate I gave, as it will vary depending on how you round things off, but I came up with a total of somewhere between 15100 and 15200 kg for the car plus ice.0 -
need someone to actually have a look at it and count the blocks0

I've never had so much fun entering a competition before! (Okay, I've only been comping for 3 weeks, but still...)
Thanks for everyone's tips, I never realised a block of ice would weigh quite so much!

Is it real ice?0

I think it is real ice, as the promotional stuff seems to say so.
Is anyone popping in to covent garden anytime soon ? :rotfl:0 -
My reasons for asking were;
1. Wouldn't the lighting rig (and ambient temperatures) melt the ice?
2. Wouldn't stacked blocks of ice weighing that much require safety barriers?0
