height of the car is 1671 mm /25.4 = 65.78 inches (nearly 5ft 5) it looks like the car is 3 blocks high looks like each block is roughly 22 inches high,

That ice doesn't look very thick above the lighting rig - the frame inside is quite big

simple maths is water is heaver than ice so take that in to account when your trying to work out total weight bearing in mind if you freeze a block of ice larger then the car you then have to remove some of the ice for the car to fit inside so start with weight of car then add weight of what you think ice weighs.
Also if you have a large tank of water before freezing when car is added the water will be displaced as the weight of the car settles,
    hope this helps you

    just some quick measurements

1 cubic foot of ice weights 26.9 Kg
1 square ft of 1 inch thick ice weighs 2.16Kg

That's me done for the day

I hope they didn't immerse the car water.

It wouldn't be worth winning if it was.

roughly there is a metre either side of the car so ive gone for about 80sq ft on the sides at an inch thickness (cant be too thick or you wouldnt see so well through it)
  • I reckon those blocks are 25 cm thick.

I've just had a look at a few of ice supplier websites:

Not sure if this would help, http://www.wired.com/magazine/2010/05/process_icehotel/ when they build the ice hotel each block weighs 2.2 tons
