Overcharging

Options
I use the NHS restaurant at work to which staff are entitled to a 20% discount on all cooked food. The restaurant is run by a private company.

How do I stand or how to they stand when this discount is not properly applied.

if an item costs 30p then you would expect to pay 24p but they charge 25p .All other items of food also don't have the full 20% discount. it may only be 1 or a few pennies per item but they serve hundreds of people every day. All the tills are touchscreen so they have been pre-programmed in this way.

Surely this is fraud and management should be punished or fined.
Would I need to take this up with consumer direct or let work deal with it (Lol)

    You say its an NHS restaurant,then say its run by a private company?

    It's most likely the VAT element of the food rounded up, being in the NHS I'm sure you have better things to worry about

    30p = VAT free price = 24p
    Discount price = 19.2p
    Discount price + VAT = 23.04p - so it can't be that?

    Or:-

    30p = VAT free price = 25p
    Discount price = 20.0p
    Discount price + VAT = 24.0p - so it can't be that?

    If this is in the NHS then one would assume that most of the staff are members of trade unions - maybe they could take this up with the facilities management for the benefit of all employees?

    You might want to brush up on your VAT knowledge before trying to prove a point ;)

    Maybe you're paying the standard price and non-NHS customers have to pay an extra 20%. Eg, 25p (NHS price) + 20% = 30p (non-NHS)
