Luma card & capital one

Hi,

I have the Capital one classic card with a £200 limit since 9 months and today I have been accepted for a Luma card with a £1500 limit. I was quite surprised to be accepted (7 defaults on my credit report! )

Capital one won't increase my limit on the Classic card, so I was wondering if I can apply for the Progress card and close the classic card if I am accepted with a higher limit. Is there a maximum of 2 cards? Does anyone have two Capital one cards and one luma card?

Thanks!

    Are the defaults settled?

None of the defaults are settled. The only credit accounts I have are cashplus creditbuilder, a capital one credit card and a mobile contract.
  • Its very unlikey that you will get a progress card just after being accepted for the Luma card and already having the Classic. I would say that you will need to close one for and wait a few months before applying for the progress card

The Luma isn't an actual Capital One card - they simply issue it

In that case, why have I just received an email from Capital One saying, "We hope you're enjoying earning cashback with every purchase on your Capital One® card." It ends by saying, "Thanks for being a Capital One customer". The card to which they refer is my cash back luma credit card.

My Luma statements have Capital One plastered all over it, the T+C's leaflet states on the front "Important information about your Capital One credit card".

thanks for the replies. I checked with Capital one today, the Luma card is considered as a Capital One card and they won't accept a new application until I close one account.

On Luma card wesbite it says:-
I have a Capital One card. Can I apply for a Luma card?

The Luma card is issued by Capital One. If you’ve had a Capital One account for more than 6 months, you can also apply for the Luma card today.

Your original post says you have a Capital One card for 9 months so according to FAQ it should be ok.

I Used to hold a Capital one Classic, Prograss and a Luma card at the same time. They are all closed now but they were all opened in a short space of time.

    Hope this helps
