Pothole - council liability

If the road has been correctly marked then it is at least 5.5m wide which is the minimum width for a road with centre line. The road is quite narrow, so that vehicle position is quite normal.
It was somewhere around here:

Not really that narrow but standard for a country roadThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
The white line at the edge of the carriageway is only a guide and does not necessarily mark the exact edge of the adopted highway. You need to contact your local council and make a formal claim for damages under failure to mantain the highway under the Highways Act 1980.
Your local council will have official maps showing adopted highways and they will then decide to either settle the claim or defend it in court.DFW'er - Lightbulb moment : 31st July 2009 - £18,499

Are you talking about the street view drive by date? Assuming its the same damage, which it probably is, it has got much worse.
I am on about the drive by date, it does look to be the same damage , another poster as already commented on the carriageway width, so is probably SWQR resgistered.
Also somebody else has asked if you have reported the hole and I do not recall a reply to that question, I do not notice any white markings around it, so it doesn't appear as if it has been identified for repair (it hasn't been reported) and the council can only be liable if they are aware, and they can only be aware if road users make them aware.
I fear you may not have a succesful case.0 -
BTW, any thoughts on the tyres? I assume they are a write-off, but how can you tell?
They are brand new Goodyear tyres fitted only last week.0 -
