My Dad used to make haggis balls many years ago(about 40).He took spoonfuls of the haggis and dipped them in batter then deep fried them.
    Lovely with home made chips.

Chicken breast stuffed with haggis with bacon wrapped around it.

  • Mmmmm haggis pakora is lovelies...

For brands, Macsweens and Simon Howie are the favourites round here, but I have no idea how available they are elsewhere. Hope you find one you like better :) though it can be substituted for mince as mentioned above.

Make a lasagna (substitute haggis for the mince) - sounds weird, tastes delicious! It even worked with that awful tinned haggis I bought as an experiment in a can from Aldi (and that looks like dog food when you open it)

  • It makes a nice addition to a shepherds pie.

We like it mixed with mash and fried up in cakes.

Next time try mixing it with surplus mashed potato to turn into tasty rissoles. Not need to coat in breadcrumbs. Just fry on both sides until crispy brown.
  • Haggis on toast! My DH says it's better than any pate!

When we have it there is rarely any left over. I'm also wondering if something happened during cooking cos it's never gloopy, usually quite firm in texture.

Whatever you decide to do I'm sure it will be delish!

Lol do you eat sausages by any chance, JackieO? As an English person living in Scotland, if you make it right and buy the right one, haggis can taste amazeballs.

Sadly, often the tinned rubbish is about the only type of haggis you can buy south of the border and I agree it looks and smells like dog food!
