Isn't it actually in the book that he thinks going bankrupt doesn't do anyone any harm and that it can be a good learning experience?
I did own a copy of the book but read a few pages and decided that it was all nonsense. I don't think I have ever thrown a book in the bin but it came close.0 -

Well, it isn't completely wrong, is it? (I haven't read the book so I don't know what's in it)
If you go bankrupt you debts are wiped clean and you can start over with a clean slate. Very American
Obviously it should be remembered that that book was written by an American, so that the legal framework around bankruptcy over there probably is not the same as here. Not to mention the culture.0 -

Dunno about it being that different. The UK allows various 'celebs' or their husbands to go bust and then marital assets are all preserved during a separation and then they get back together. And some people go round the bankrupcty train more than once in a couple of years.
Sometimes I think we are just too soft on debt in this country.0 -
There's the old one about the American who declared, "Two more bankruptcies and I should be able to retire"
