Vodafone overcharging my account.

I have a Vodafone account with 900 minutes and 500MB of data for £13 a month. My latest bill for January has come in at a whopping £80. According to Vodafone I made 1068 minutes of calls. This is complete rubbish. Its unusual for me to make more than 200 minutes of calls in a month and looking at the bill there are clearly calls I have not made to many numbers I dont recognise.

I am awaiting a call back from Vodafone but it would appear to me that someone somehow has either hacked my account or cloned my sim or their billing system has gone wrong. How the hell could that happen. The phone is never out of arms reach 24/7. Vodafone insist that their system is accurate but who knows. I have no idea what I can do about this. Anyone else had a similar experience?

What should I do next?

Have you checked the calls log in your phone's memory?

I'd be surprised if any mobile company said otherwise regardless of the reality.
  • Thanks

I'm going to check the recent logs against my phones call list this afternoon

Will have a search through for the other threads

    Hi barryd999,

Thanks for making me aware of your concerns.

If you'd like me to take a closer look at things, could you email me with your details via the link in our profile here?

All you need to do is copy and paste the link into your web browser and it'll take you to the Contact us form on our website. To make sure it reaches me could you also quote the code WRT135 - MSE in the subject line?

Once sent you'll receive an automated reply with a reference number. So I can make sure I've got it could you update the thread with this and I'll get back to you as soon as possible?

    Kind regards,

    Lee

If your call logs differs from the bill and Vodafone refuse to refund money, ask them to check the location(s) where the suspicious calls were made from.

Thankyou for this response (and the other replies).

I have submitted my details via the form you mentioned on the link in your profile and have received an aknowledgement.

My iPhone only holds calls in the recent calls list back to the 6 Feb and they do match. There are hundreds before then though on my bill that I dont recognise.

I am trying to pull off my month by month history so I can see what I normally use each month as another method of gathering evidence but I cannot seem to find a report or method to do this on the Vodafone site. Can anyone help with this?

Like I said. 900 minutes is way to much for me normally anyway.

I am worried sick now if something is wrong that it will keep happening.

I gather its almost impossible to clone a sim but Vodafone can check the IMEI numbers to check if calls came from a different phone. It cant be that though as the phone never leaves my sight and nobody else ever uses it.

I would like to put in place a call barring system if possible to prevent outgoing calls if the system thinks I have reached 900 minutes. At least until the problem is resolved

My phone isn't iPhone, but it's really hard to believe that a smartphone has so short memory.
