Although this may be in the Major's magazine subscription thread (it didn't come up when I searched) it may be worth repeating here.

We had a sample issue of the magazine sent about 3 years ago, subscribed for a fiver and forgot about it. The issues came, the leaflets, offers, holiday brochures etc. When the sub ran out they sent 3 'free' issues while we decided whether to renew (which we didn't). We still get issues now about every 4 months, with subscription offers and the rest of the junk mail that comes with it.
My wife has a Saga Visa card which may have something to do with the masses of mail but considering that us 'oldies' are meant to be environmentally aware there's a lot of trees suffering at the hands of the Saga junk mail.0 -

Yes I quite agree with you there :-/♥♥♥ Genius - 1% inspiration and 99% doing what your mother told you. ♥♥♥0 -
smartRRRR
You're absolutely right, Saga is the worst for junk mail, my husband & I had our house insured with Saga until we found a much cheaper quote, saga still bombard us with pointless junk mail0 -
We also get the junk mail, and the magazine, though
we dont have a subscription,we had seven travel
brochures sent this week, and they refuse to stop
sending them.A wise man changes his mind, a fool never will.

Agree with previous posts, Saga are notorious for their junk mailing.
But I also found that their 'services' whether holidays, insurance etc were invariably more expensive than if you 'shop around'. I think they just assume we over 50's are unwilling/unable to look at other offers.I say what I like, I like what I say!0 -
It really is time SAGA was exposed and we fought back.
Expensive poor service company. We'll over 50's now more intelligent than to fall for it's marketing hype.
Good floatation to avoid..it's all downhill from here.Sarah x0 -
I was a bit miffed to get a free copy of Saga Magazine as soon as I hit 50! (Iam am now 59). I really don't care for all the junk mail they keep on sending out AND their insurance offers are not necessarily the best deal around. I do, however, subscribe to Choice Magazine which is similar in context but not as 'own brand' orientated.0

They have an excellent credit card though. At the moment they are offering:Expensive poor service company.
- No handling charges for withdrawals from cash machines, at home and abroad, until 31 December 2004.
- 0% interest on new balance transfers for 6 months, for BTs made before 28 February 2005.
- 0% interest on convenience cheques for 6 months, for cheques used before 28 February 2005.0 -
I think that SAGA has recently been sold' by the family which owned, it for £1,300,000,000
Perhaps they will send out even more junk mail in future................................I have put my clock back....... Kcolc ym0 -
