Can I use silicone sealant to stick plasterboard to my wall?

Hi again everyone. I'm well on with it now - have put up studs & noggins, etc. and attached my boards to those. As it's purely for noise reduction purposes, creating a good seal was key, so I put silicone sealant around the edges of the plasterboard - where it came into contact with the studs and noggins - then I used screws at the appropriate spacings to secure it and make sure the silicone was squished down - leaving no air gaps.
On the other side I did the same but used foam polyfilla by Polyfill (the silicone stinks!). Actually it says on the can that you can use this stuff for attaching boards to walls - and I have to say - apart from superglue, it is by far the stickiest substance I have ever used - evil stuff (but ultimately quite useful).
In both situations (and as I'm a DIYer and don't always get it right first time) I wanted to take one of the pieces of plasterboard off again to adjust the mineral wool amount/placement behind. And in both cases I took the screws out and simply could not get the plasterboard off. The only way the plasterboard will come off now is if I destroy it.
So with that in mind, I'm convinced that silicone sealant can be used to attach plasterboard to a wall - or studs/noggins. If I can't get it off without destroying it after trying for a good 10 minutes - what other proof do I need?

Like I said - it CAN be used, but with a Stetson and chaps being worn during the usege
The issue that will come to light is if you now want to paint over the silicone with emulsion.
Likewise, plaster will also struggle to adhere is you have loads of the stuff squirted everywhere.
Anyway - it's your house and you can do with it what you like!! Enjoy the learning curve and best of luck with the rest of it... just try to use the silicone for it's intended purpose
