Can I use silicone sealant to stick plasterboard to my wall?
I'm upgrading the soundproofing capabilities of our party wall either side of the fireplace in our bedroom, and was thinking of just removing the skirting boards, etc. then getting this http://www.selcobw.com/gtec-db-board-tapered-edge-plasterboard-2400-x-1200-x-15mm and sticking it to the wall, then decorating over it.
I got a shed load of cheap silicone sealant on eBay recently, and thought that using that to stick it to the wall would be a good idea - from a soundproofing perspective (non-rigid) - but I just want to make sure it won't come away from the wall in the future.
Thanks

I'd probably make a stud wall( even just 2x2 for the stud work) with some soundproofing material on the existing party wall.0

Theoretially yes, depending on type of goo, but highly NOT recommended.
Oh, and don't forget to use your cowboy hat whilst doing it

No, silicone will not work. You'd be better off with gripfill at least. You'll get more sound reduction if you stud the wall with 25 mm roofing lath and screw boards to it. 25mm polystyrene is cheap, fill in between studs before screwing boards back on.0

You can also get soundproofing board, I'm sure British Gypsum do it.0

Thanks everyone. I guess I should have been more specific and asked whether silicone sealant would make an okay alternative to silicone adhesive - sometimes products like this get called something else but are actually the same thing inside. It seems as though that is not the case here, so I won't be sticking plasterboard to my wall with silicone sealant.
It'd be nice not be made to feel stupid for asking though. This is DIY after all - people asking questions on here are mostly amateurs and so have never even taken their cowboy hats off! (No offence taken on that one). Thanks to those that gave useful answers.

Don't be made to feel stupid by asking questions ... it's what makes some of the "experts" on here feel clever ...
The stupid thing is not to ask.0 -
Glad none was taken
Another tip would be to build a stud wall, but not to fix it directly to the party wall, as this too would reduce sound transferrance as there is little physical connection between the party wall and 'new' wall.
Fix the 'new' wall to the 'side' walls if this makes sense.

Used it myself and brilliant stuff, advise you buy a decent applicator gun to apply it.0 -
I don't think silicone sealant will have a strong enough adhesive capability.0
