Microsoft _ Home Workers License

Options
Hi

I've been trying to search for the post which details how you can get microsoft software for company employees who have paid for the license so their staff can purchase cheaply.

I can't find it anywhere. Could someone post the link please?

I think the cost price is about 9 or 10 pounds.

Many thanks

It depends on whether your company offers it / is signed up to the programme. (Home Use Program). Your company should be able to advise you.

  • Its not home workers but home use.

In theory you are not purchasing the software though, the fee you pay is purely an administration fee and it then falls under your employers bulk license. When you leave your employer your license becomes invalid and you should remove the software - I doubt many do though and certainly the applications keep working

    I already said that. ;)

I originally got Office 2003 via HUP. It certainly does continue to work. (Although I'm using 2007 now). :)

I got 2003, then 2007 and finally 2011 (mac) but still use the 2007 Visio and Project as these haven't been ported to Mac. Cant even remember which company I was with when I got 2007 :o

I know. My post supported your statement. :p;)

I'm still with the company through which I got 2003, but they left the HUP several years ago. I got 2007 from an alternative source (ahem). :D

(I got 2010 through a similar source, but that one seems to time out the activation after 90 days or something like that, so I've reverted to 2007).

My 2010 also expired (I think it was after a year rather than 90 days) and I had to go back to 2007. I've also got 2003 CDs that I bought through a previous employer and somewhere I have a developers kit for Office 97 that I was given when Microsoft were doing some work with us!

If you still have the receipt and activation code for the 2010, you should look into this.
I purchased Office 2010 on the Home user program well over 2 years ago and it's still working perfectly on both my laptop and home PC.
I don't know if it makes any difference, but I got mine from the Microsoft US site.

    Part of the Furniture
Also if your company terminates the part of the agreement with microsoft that the home-use licence is linked to then that would also make your licence invalid in the terms/conditions sense, whether the licence would be deactivated in the technical sense by microsoft - proof is in the pudding

I don't think he was referring to a HUP license, rather an <ahem> license. ;)

We've already covered that - it does continue to work, and can be reinstalled too (for 2003 at least).
