Netflix devices

1. XBox360 (Gold account required)
2. XBMC on the Pi
3. Wii (Slooooooooooooow )
4. The Sky NowTV device (£10, and Essentially an old gen ROKU player - can be flashed with XBMC or similar)

How old are the kids in question? Have you set them up with Netflix profiles and parental controls etc so Disney films dont appear in your recommended lists? ;-)

My eldest is 4 3/4, can happily use Apple TV controls (and ipad, android...) and yes, i've set him up with a seperate netflix account. I have no wish to see Yo Gabba Gabba! in my recommended list

I hadn't considered how slow the Wii would be.. i'm quite bothered by the 'usability' for them. At this rate it'll be a second apple TV box

My daughter uses a WII to connect to Netflix. she has not mentioned it being slow.

I use a Roku LT, got a straightforward remote control and works about the same as the Wii. Can be hooked up via HDMI or composite video if you have an older TV.

I got mine from amazon - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Roku-2400EU-Receiver-Set-Top-Box/dp/B006VTASUQ - but shop around, it was cheaper than that when I bought it.

Just to update this thread - i've placed an order for a Google chromecast; since it's tiny and will let me do exactly what I want PLUS be small enough to take away on holiday.

Other than not having HMDI my wii works just as well as my xbox.

The Chromecast is proving to be a hit. The kids like finding what they want to watch on the ipad, then casting it to the kitchen TV. It's easily portable, so i can move it to another TV without fuss.
