Does anyone know a cheap means to get netflix on the TV from a stand alone device? Have Apple TV, and would love something just as simple for the kids to use. Small would be a benefit.
I have a rasberry pi sat in a box doing nothing, but I don't know how easy it would be to get netflix running for the kids to use

You could use a Wii if you have one (second hand ones on ebay are cheap)0

Get XBMC on the Raspberry Pi, then install whatever add-on's you wish.Understeer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car
Oversteer is when you hit a wall with the back of your car
Horsepower is how fast your car hits the wall
Torque is how far your car sends the wall across the field once you've hit it0 -

I was hoping for some funky £20 android sticks! The Wii will be perfect if i can find all the bits0 -
Googles Chromecast will be out soon, hopefully around the £35 mark, but maybe a bit dearer, handy if you have a HDMI socket on the TV0

Bit more expensive - a smart blu ray player. Then you have a bluray player too! Just get one with wifi so theres no ugly wires running through your house0

There is no native netflix app for pi, involves streaming from another windows based PC.
One solution get a cheapo android dongle, one with a rockwell chipset I know works (I have a rikomagic mk802 iiis) and install the netflix app. Can even install XBMC too if you like. Mine cost £32 about a year ago, so can probably get a quad core based one for around the same price now or find a 2nd hand one for about £20.0 -
ok, those android PC sticks - how do you control them? Do they need a USB hub + keyboard + mouse?0

I think you can control them via an app on another Android device.0

Can do. One of those 'air mice' which has a keyboard built in and works similar to a Wii controller are supposed to be quite good. I have one of the those mini lenovo ones with a track ball which is OK but wish I went for one of these instead.

Edit - You will also need a decent USB charger that puts out 2 amps. Phone chargers just won't cut it0 -
I'm basically aiming for 'something a 5 year old can use' - since it's the kids who will use it. I think the Wii is the best (and obviously cheapest, since it's hiding somewhere) route.
