I believe that garage floors must be lower than adjoining house floors.
However I can only find "by 4 inches" online - which to me means I'm only finding US references to this fact.
We have a detached garage which is 15 cm lower than the house floor height, I want to extend the garage toward the house - ideally so that we can step directly from the house to the garage. So garage is no longer detached.
So I need to work out whether 15 cm is sufficiently lower than the house floor for building regs criteria.
Anyone know - or know where I could find out (online)
Thanks

. So garage is no longer detached.
In the interests of fire safety, if there is a
door between a garage and the dwelling,
it should have 30 minutes’ fire resistance
and be self-closing. This opening must
incorporate a step of at least 100mm
between the garage and the dwelling
floors. http://www.bassetlaw.gov.uk/pdf/BC18%20DOMESTIC%20GARAGE.pdf
National requirement I would think.0 -
