Home garage extension advice

I believe that garage floors must be lower than adjoining house floors.
However I can only find "by 4 inches" online - which to me means I'm only finding US references to this fact.

We have a detached garage which is 15 cm lower than the house floor height, I want to extend the garage toward the house - ideally so that we can step directly from the house to the garage. So garage is no longer detached.

So I need to work out whether 15 cm is sufficiently lower than the house floor for building regs criteria.

Anyone know - or know where I could find out (online)
