Pounds to pocket NIGHTMARE

  • To be fair, if it was a broker then £141 is incredibly steep? Normally they run between £39.99 - £79.99?

Was it all in one go? Can your bank confirm the bank details for where the payment went as you may be able to track it down that way?

It often seems to be the case that people try more than one broker. Could be several different ones.

@dotdash79 it says 'card payment to Pounds to pocket'
The time for talking has stopped, you are clearly getting nowhere.

the bank should be more receptive to you but as has been said, this is a well trodden path from people who dish out debit card details at a whim only to deny it completely afterwards.

Anything can be entered as a payment reference so it may not be Pounds to Pocket.

I hope you have learned the lesson about giving your debit card details out, they are ONLY used to pay for something. They are not used for verification or any other waffle, only to pay for something.

You need to raise a complaint to Pounds to Pocket in writing.

You need a formal statement from them that this transaction has not originated from them, use this evidence to present to your bank as an unauthorised transaction. Even though it probably wasn't but you can't remember who or how many you dished your details out to.

And when you go back to your bank, don't bother speaking to the numpties in the call center - tell them (not ask TELL) that you want to speak to the disputes department.

Okay the bank says it sounds like its an 'admin' fee for registering with the Pounds to pocket website. They have had to block my debit card and send me out a new one to stop future payments.

This is the type of incorrect crap that the call centers love to spout (you'd probably get a more accurate response from a wino on a park bench). Cancelling your card will not stop future payments - you need to cancel the CPA that may have been put in place.
  • Interestingly, Pounds to Pocket have come back to me and said that I do have a loan with them (after denying it for ages) I cant find any money going into my account though. Thanks everyone for your help so far. I'm going to stop being such an idiot in future.
  • Okay soooo over the past 2 weeks I've had £364.54 taken out of my bank account from 6 different loan companies! I haven't applied, agreed, or taken out any loan!? Nor have I authorized these payments to be processed! These companies clearly know when I get paid as they've taken then on payday!? (Baring in mind I've had other money going into my account, so it's not a trail and error approach). I contacted my bank various times and went into there on two occasions and was told nothing could be done until these payments had been processed! (They were still pending) when they finally did clear 6 days later I was given the company details and told to request a refund from them! I contacted 2 of the companies and was told I would receive a refund within 30 days! Even though I informed them that I hadn't authorized these monies to be taken! (Still waiting on refund, it been 16 days now!). Anyway the third company I couldn't even get an address for nor could I get a contact number and the website didn't even exist! I counted it as a loss and thought as long as I get part of the money back it better than nothing! So at 4.30 this morning I checked my account online to see that a further £209 had been taken by another 3 different loan companies! I'm now going to have to go through the whole process again! Which to say I'm peed off about it is a complete understatement! I'm aware that I must have entered my details somewhere at some point but I definitely haven't done this on a loan broker website as I'm not in need of a loan! Im very cautious of where and who i give my details to! And im due to recive a further £650 in my account tomorrow! im worried this too is going to be taken! Is there any information anyone has in order for me to get these payments back ASAP!? And what can the bank actually do?

Nicole - the bank get these situations all the time but 99.9% time you have entered your details in a loan broker site.

Banks can 'reclaim' the money back if you genuinely didn't put your details in but if you get them to do this you must be 100% sure you havn't agreed in someones terms and conditions where you've put your card details in as you are basicly saying these people have committed fraud and it will back fire if it turns out it was your mistake.
People don't know what they want until you show them.

Nicole, how do you propose that these people got your bank details to take money if you haven't entered them?

Okay, soooo stop giving out your debit card details on line.

That should sort the problem out for you.
