I was going to suggest "asking politely", but I might get hit for that one. I've been duped on here before when I've suggested good manners as a way forward.1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?0 -
OP, wind your neck in a bit and try talking nicely to them they may agree to cover the difference, if that fails then is the time to start being 4rsey with them.0

On a forum it is best to read ALL posts.
The 'nice' approach has been suggested.
Indeed, if others read the op then they would perhaps notice that the store has already been approached and have told us that 'there is nothing we can do', hence the request for LEGAL advice.

If you look at my op you will see I asked for ‘legal advice’.
Your first reply to me was far from that, though I did thank you for the reply.
/QUOTE]
You want legal advice, pay to see a lawyer. What you will get on here is opinions, even if somebody says they are providing legally sound advice you have no idea who they are.0 -
I thought Trading Standards no longer took individual complaints?
You thought right. Unless there is a significant pattern of issues or a consumer has lost a considerable amount of money and is vulnerable most TS departments will not look at civil matters. Civil advice is now provided by the citizens advice consumer service...if there is an element of criminal activity then it will be referred to TS. Even if TS get a referral they don't necessarily act on every case as each department will have an enforcement policy and tasking group which sets the threshold as to when it is worth taking something on. I can't see a criminal element to OP's case and don't think a TS department would pursue a case where the loss was £31 anyway because it would be a waste of resources.
You cannot force the company to give you the holiday at the price they quoted in error. The most you can expect is to be put back in the position you were in before the contract - ie your deposit back.Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!0 -

There you go again, dictating to people.
I can post whatever I like on here as long as it isn't abusive (take note).
If I wish to pay for legal advice I shall do so but that will be my choice.0 -
Thanks for the info on Trading Standards.
It was the pattern I was thinking of.
If I let them know what has happened then I think they note it down.
Who knows, there may already be others.0 -
I suspect your idea of what is rude or abusive differs from most normal peoples. There are a few other things you could do that are generally more effective than your current plan ....... But you'll have to trawl back through old posts to find them as I can't be bothered sharing the info with someone who is so rude to other posters (and as you yourself point out I can post ...or not......anything I like so long as it is not abusive).I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

I understand that some posters just troll the boards looking for place to rest but at least read what has been written.
specialboy just offered some advice, he didn't do anything wrong. Sometimes people don't want to read everything. It's understandable to get angry if they're asking you questions you've already answered, but why talk down to someone who's just trying to help? You're unlikely to get help from others who do know the ins and outs when you respond like that.
I don't know where you stand legally, but I'd imagine you'd be entitled to your deposit back if they won't let you pay the cheaper price.0
