uninstalled vista ultimate .I will stay with xp pro for a little longer.Lots of issues with graphics drivers .
I do agree this is not microsofts fault ..It isn't really a problem .I have a good operating system and in another 9 months Vista will be a more stable platform that has far fewer driver and hardware issues0 -
Who cares whos fault it is? Vista's or software companies!!!
The point is a lot of hardware is not supported so no point getting Vista.
Simple as that0 -

But a lot of software/hardware is supported so there is a point in getting Vista.. I have NEVER had a piece of hardware not work for me and I have printers and other things over 5 years old The simple fact is that XP had these problems as did win98 its just people come in and start using them when all the bugs are sorted then moan when the next gen starts. There are drivers to get things working on vista from beta drivers to Windows Server drivers. Some XP drivers will also work.
It is the same scenario with the Digital TV changeover. People will have known for years as do manufacturers that its happening but on the day of the switchover there will be people on here moaning about it and how come thier 10 year old or brand new LCD TV wont work now and it should have been made compatible and its everyone elses fault and they shouldnt have to buy a freeview tuner.
Vista is here to stay and once manufacturers have milked every penny from making people upgrade to Vista compatible products by not supporting thier old ones then Vista will get more support and XP less.. But then you will have people moaning about that as well0 -

Beg to differ.
I reckon Vista will disappear at about the same time as XP, to be replaced by the OS that Vista could have been if they hadn't stripped so many of the features out due to staff working on XP ServicePack 2.
It's a stop gap.0 -

So you are saying they will stop selling and supplying Vista on the 31/12/07 the same as XP......
Are you talking about the so called Vienna because that wont be around for a while yet..
At the present, it is believed that Blackcomb's codename has been changed to Vienna and that Windows "Vienna" is being planned as both a client and server release with a current release estimate of late 2009. However, no firm date or year has yet been publicized and some, based on previous Windows release delays, say that the release of Windows "Vienna" could be postponed to 2012.
made a small error... date should have been 31/12/07 instead of 31/12/08 changed now..0 -
The reason I stayed clear... With the new generation of DX10 video cards needing a PCI-E power connector or 2 molex connectors then the scope for graphical upgrade is limited.. I thing a geforce 7600GT is the limit for dell machines..(could be wrong)
The Dell PC's with 375 watt power supplies (e.g., Dimension 9200) have been offered for sale with lots of more demanding cards:
- 7900 GTX
- 7950 GX2 (dual core card)
- 8800 GTX (direct x 10)
I personally have an aftermarket 7950 GT that works just fine.0 -
I've found Vista to be fine with all my hardware. The only thing that didn't work was a SoundBlaster Live! I bought back in 1999 for £20, and Creative won't be releasing any drivers for it as it's no longer supported.
I use Linux now anyhow so doesn't bother me"Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -

But these cards need at least a 375 watt PCI-E power adapter or 2 molex connectors so that is basically at its minimum requirements and with Dells habit of having wierd power supplies as well as the odd different pin configurations for the motherboard connectors I thought it was too much hassle if I ever wanted to upgrade the power supply to accomadate any other peripherals that might need power0 -
I found my modem didn't work when I upgraded to XP and modem manufacturer refused to release new drivers for it. I suppose that means I should now still be running Windows 98!!!! As for backwards compatibility, I noticed my DVD player won't play my VHS cassettes, I think I'll go back to my VCR since they had the lack of vision of making DVD backwards compatible when introducing the new better technology "She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"
