I'm tempted too now, I've kind of wanted one for a bit but never fully gotten round to it.

After re-homing all my fish to a more suitable environment (a friend with a massive tank) I have a fish tank going spare, it's a big one (60litres) so I'm very tempted now. Though I'll always keep the lid on, because I don't fancy waking up to find one stuck to the kitchen ceiling

Or worse..............finding half a one in your salad after you thought the crunchy bits were just coleslaw...............:D

I am speaking to the head tomorrow about another matter and bringing up their care. I think discussing this in person is a better policy.. it isn't teaching the children anything positive about caring for a vulnerable living creature. I feel all St Francis-like :p

Good for you! Let us know how it goes.Good job it wasn't guinea pigs or rabbits, would they have lost count there as well...........

.Goldfish can grow up to 12 inches in length and are far more suited to a pond(though not the fancy varietys). It is a myth that goldfish are an easy first pet. They are not,and they don't live long in the wrong hands without the care they need and deserve.

Hi froglet, long time no see! I don't know if yiou remember but you gave me some advice on goldfish, and I moved Kelly and Becky to a friends outside pond last JUly. They were around 11 years old at that time. Unfortunately Kelly died a few months later, but she had a happy few months; Becky is still happily swimming round being queen of the pond.

I now have homes for 8!!!! I fear the small donation to school funds may need to increase lol.. they can provide a better home for the ones they are keeping with the money!

Honestly, I'd not give them back and I'd not be mincing words that their care of the snails was wholly inadequate and bordering on neglect through ignorance. Really piddles me off, if you take a living creature on board, you make sure you are caring for it appropriately. Well done pigpen for making them happier. (Still wouldn't have one myself though!)
