I have rehomed 2 snails!!! I am really pleased.. at least 2 little slimy lives will be better.. hopefully a couple more will find happiness before Monday too!

I do intend being very honest with school and saying I thought it would help them and improve matters for the snails.. I will make a small donation to the school fund as payment for them which is fair I think given the actual snails were free! courtesy of the other 2! lol

    Lol

When I was still a Vallette I got stick insects from school (and I, and they DID know how to care for them).
The laid lots of eggs which I kept in a stone jar with a perforated clingfilm lid by my bedroom radiator - when the babies (about a centimetre long, as I recall), hatched they climbed up to the clingfilm whereupon I transferred them to their permament home.

Anyway one day my middle sister (not a huge pet lover, then and now, unlike me and my littlest sister) was heard to SCREAM. In her bedroom, on the wall was a FULL GROWN 10cm long bright green stick insect - doing the 'vibrating' thing and close to her bed.

Funnily enough she seemed unconvinced by my insistence that 'it isn't one of mine' - now it was NOT one I had ever seen and I certainly hadn't lost one - all I can think is that it was an escaped baby which had thrived on the houseplants:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

They ought to be paying YOU for all the things you have got for them.I do hope you point out that they should be kept in better conditions.

Is this the new home the school have provided or the ones you gave to more caring owners? What did the school say when you took the others back?

I am speaking to the head tomorrow about another matter and bringing up their care. I think discussing this in person is a better policy.. it isn't teaching the children anything positive about caring for a vulnerable living creature. I feel all St Francis-like :p
