Oh yeah, does read a bit funny doesn't it! I mean treats for our 2 very much loved gerbils who, needless to say, we would never ever cook.

  • glad to hear it.

ive had a couple of near misses with escaping hamsters, one knew all the hiding places and used to sneak in the air vent in the back of the cooker once it had cooled down and sleep in there. for weeks i put food out for him and kept the cat outside convinced hed turn up then one day i found sunflower husks in the bottom of the cooker, next day opened the door quietly and found hammy curled up asleep in my mincepie tin

another of our hamsters hit the local paper headlines when he escaped and after being heard scratting behind the boiler on the front of the house went very quiet, over a couple of months later one nasty rainy night we kept hearing scratting at the back door nothing was outside but then we noticed a little foot appearing under the skirting board at the edge of the door frame. the lounge floor is solid concrete and we'd had cavity wall filling but somehow hammyII had made his way all round the cavity wall and found a little chink of light so was trying to surface. DH did ask me how much i wanted the hamster back before he pryed off a section of the skirting and then we had to keep poking hammy down away from the hole with the blunt end of a knitting needle so DH could chisel the hole a bit bigger. we then managed to coax him out with some bird seeds and chocolate (by then id given up on him so all food had been given away. DD1 was so delighted the next morning she told all her friends and somehow the local paper took the story and she got on the front page with the wayward hamster who she renamed beckham as something footbally was going on at the time.

 Hi Skinty! Stix heading your way. Speaking of Bossy, anyone know how the date went?

If anyone would like some pet mice (to replace their boil-in-the-bag-gerbil or entombed hamsters) they're very welcome to our chalet visitors. We have mice. In the linen store area. Unhappy Honey Bear. Friend's Jack Russell might be borrowed, but then I'd have to clear up blood.

Thanks Rebecca. It will defo be an early night tonight. During the hours I spent listening to the radio last night, I got a good MSE-type idea and I drafted out the letter today so if it comes off, it will have been well worth it. I really am very sluggish today, so a couple of physical tasks have been deferred.

*Note to self* Check opening hours of various places before leaping in the charabanc. Some stuff is still in the boot. I'll deal with it another day.
    Better is good enough.
  • back from shops, DS2 has supposedly tidied his room while i was out need to check it to see if hes earned the creme egg he asked for.
going to do a quick HHC in our room then throw the haggis andsome weetabix cakes in the oven

BD has been doing the rounds to members of the Skint Pitz, DD2 was brought home to throw sticks at her BD for a long weekend. the young Skints Dad needs hernia op, but considering we were looking at the big C, that is quite a relief.

Just a bit worn out and trying to take charge of my own physical health...

 Skinty! Grrrrrreat to have you back! I was getting quite worried :o - missed sharing the occasional brew with you! Very glad indeed to hear that the YSD's condition is not as bad as you had feared: hope his op goes well. Now take things slowly and get yourself properly better. May the sun shine for you in Skintland at least once in a while, so that you can go out and throw stones in the sea (throw your worries away with them ;))

Everyone seem to be busy this week. Glad your GUAG has returned to you, Rebecca! Froddy, enjoy your week off and don't fly non-stop. I haven't really done much off the lists, but I'm pleased with what I've achieved in the past 24 hours since culling the final frog.

All the ironing is done :T apart from one of DH's shirts
    Bedding changed
WMx3, TD x2, rest hung on radiators
Hellebores planted out in pots (I received not 10 bareroot plants but 13 :D)
Begonias (which are shooting away merrily) moved to the back porch
Broken downpipe on the corner of the garage replaced - it's only propped up at present, but I want to cut it to fit a rainwater diverter next week and get my water butt filled before the weather turns to drought (I wish!)
    Study tidy (well, almost)
    Bathroom and kitchen S&S'd
    SW this morning
    Hairdresser at lunchtime
GP this afternoon to ask for further referral to SW
    Card written and posted
Rang HMRC to get my new tax code corrected
Provisional meeting date arranged with my colleague, who is very happy with the way I dealt with the frogs last week :)

DH has put spare storage crates away in the loft, so there's less clutter in the utility :)

    This evening I must
    - sort washing
    - write a thank-you note
    - cook our meal (cold beef, chips and peas :p)
    - download pics from the camera and make space on the SD card
    - email pics to a fellow genealogist
    - get to bed at a reasonable hour!

(((Hugs))), spoons and sticks to all who need them.
