yes on branded food they tend to be the same prices.

    tesco play games tho.

    if something is on offer.

there seems to be roughly a 25% chance ti becomes 'unavalable' on the website fo rthe duration of the offer, eg. I had a voucher for 75% off br brains faggots in my tesco vouchers, it lasted for 3 months, for the entire 3 months yes 12 whole weeks I could not order faggots, they were 'unavailable'.
about another 25% chance can order but is substituted, although they price match on substitutes, substituting a godo product on offer usually gets a bad cheaper substitute as a result.

for people like me who have to use online ordering we are there for the kill, I ofrequently get damaged food (as after all I can skip over it in the aisle), bad dates, limited choice on the website which is made even worse by things keep dissapearing.

My shopping last week nearly 3/4 of my usual's were unavailable or subsitituted, I emailed tesco asking are they in some sort of crisis and I wasnt joking either, and apparently my store is having stocking issues, to which I replied what for 2 years?.

....How can they justify such erratic pricing?! ....

They're trying to wipe out your 'price memory'.

    Yes.

I expect that they even have research to back this belief.
  • Reading this, anyone might think that the supermarkets are there as a public service. They aren't. Get over it.
  • To be honest it doesn't take much working out what probably the cause is. Supermarkets want to make money, each part of the company is probably staffed so thinly that whoever comes up with prices probably has so much work to do they can't go over everything with a fine tooth comb.

    :rotfl: having a bad weekend?

I don't think they are a public service. I also don't think there is anything wrong with wanting (regardless or not of if it will ever happen) a transparent pricing system.

My issue is not so much the price. Like I already said, it's the only food my cat can eat so even if they put the price up to £20 tomorrow I would still continue to buy it as it doesn't make my cat sick which is my priority. My issue is with the extreme fluctuation that happens within a very short period of time, and perhaps the fact that they think us consumers are stupid that got on my wick a bit ;)

Do what I do. When the price drops go and Buy on mass.

Of course seeing your cat is 17 you may be left with some.

this week tesco about 80% unavailable to order, so used asda, shopping £15 cheaper mainly due to asda branded stuff been way cheaper but some branded stuff as well such as crisps £1 instead of £1.79.

They can always be donated to our local animal shelter.

Will definitely be using the link another poster gave me earlier where I can buy 4 packs for a tenner at a time.

I've often wondered if Tesco deliberately remove special offer products from the shelves until the deal is over. The number of times products miraculously reappear the moment a price returns to normal is beyond coincidence.
