ASDA cheeky pricing

Options
Just a vent.

My ageing cat can only cope with one type of food, she is prone to eating anything else as it makes her sick on nearly a daily basis. So we always have to buy Whiskas Senior Fish in Jelly pouches.

Over the last couple of months the pricing in Asda has been all over the place! They were on offer as 2 for £5 and displaying as being £3 each. Then they stopped being on offer but the packs went down to £2.50 each so we got 2 for £5 anyway. Then they whacked them up to being £3.50 each for a box and this week they still are but are on offer at 2 for £6!!

How can they justify such erratic pricing?! Do they really think we're so dim that we won't notice?! I wish I could buy a different food, but it isn't worth the anguish it would cause with my poor cat's insides. Gaah!

Now you know why they increased them to £3.50 a box, their special offer price is really an increase. All the supermarkets do it, in my experience Tesco is the worst,.

If they've just gone upto £3.50 I predict a price cut to £2.50 or less coming next

OP, l wondered if you have looked at Amazon for the food you need. Here is a link which may help you decide if it would work out cheaper for you
  • there will be a part of playing the prices but also no doubt the supplier to Asda will have offered different prices/rebates for certain quantities being bought etc.

What would happen if they stop making this catfood? Would it be the end for tiddles?

Who knows. She is nearly 17 and although she has survived a couple of bad scrapes with cars she is certainly slowly on her way out. She isn't in pain, she's just getting a bit old and tired. I doubt Whiskas will get rid of this cat food in the next year, and I would be surprised if our cat made it to 18.

  • Asda are notoriuous for doing this with 1000s of products along with all the other supermarkets but Asda seem to be the worse just to try and fool the unlucky customers
they are all in cahoots this week maybe asdas turn then next week its tescos

Asda have a habit of advertising the fact that they are cheaper on a certain product as against sainsburys/tesco/morrisons only because that week its there turn to have it on offer

what makes me laugh though a couple times recently ALDI/Lidl have been cheaper

Be thankful your cat doesn't drink Coca-Cola. The price fluctuates alarmingly.

I guess it's just beyond me! Somehow between being cavemen and today we managed to create a system so bloomin' complicated that even cat food isn't easy. It's enough to make me need a long nap.
