Hotel for Hyde Park Winter Wonderland?

I'm looking to plan well in advance for early December for a trip to London's Hyde Park Winter Wonderland.

A family if 2 adults & 2 kids in 1 room for Friday & Saturday nights.

We will be driving (200 miles!) so car parking will be required. We also hope to visit Buckingham Palace while we are there.

I believe Hyde park is on the Piccadilly line, so I think a hotel further out of London on this line would be a good bet, any suggestions?

We do quite favour Premier inn's

Where will you be driving from?

You can also get to Hyde Park on the Central Line - Marble Arch, its only a short walk away. So Piccadilly or Central Lines are good for easy journeys.

Where you driving from depends which end of the tube line would be preferable for you. So if it's from north north/west or north east and south east - piccadilly line station, if north east or West/North West Central Line is best.

Also take into consideration what zone you are in, there's a massive price difference between zone 1-6 and zone 1-4 ticket prices for example

Premier inn, hanger lane. Also close to park royal which is on the same line as Hyde park corner.

Cheap on site parking but on occasion you can park on the street directly outside the hotels front entrance

You could look at the PI at Greenford as it has good reviews on Tripadvisor and near Perivale tube station (central line) which goes to Marble arch (20 min approx journey time). It has free parking.

Probably best going for somewhere near the Central line like Stratford area as the best route for you is down the M11 which takes you to just North of Stratford.

London has a great Underground system, so it is really easy to get about. The tube map is available at http://www.tfl.gov.uk/assets/downloads/standard-tube-map.pdf; Marble Arch is just left of centre on the red line (Central) and Hyde Park Corner just below it on the diagonal blue line (Piccadilly) is the nearest station to the event. The yellow (Circle) line pretty much marks out the centre of London, and I guess you would come into Kings Cross which is on its top edge.

You can get a daily Travel Card to cover all your tube journeys in a day, and you can just about make out the grey Zones 1-6 on the background of the map; your tickets need to be valid for the highest number zone you are going to get on/off at.

The Winter Wonderland can get very busy, and you may need to queue to get in, and wait times for rides can be quite long.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Stay near any tube line and you'll be fine, don't worry about a particular one.

Winter Wonderland is VERY expensive. VERY. We went after New Year this year and did ice skating and visited the ice palace. Without any food/drink and one other ride it cost us well over £100. Start saving now.

Personally I wouldn't give winter wonderland another thought.it was ridiculously priced and reminded me of poor mans Blackpool experience.if money is no object then it may be a different experience. We went 5 years ago approx and 1 ride wanted 8 pounds each.there was nothing magical about it. I felt embarrassed as I had to limit the number of rides I could offer my son. He turned around and said its a rip off dad let's go.the food drink were sub standard fast food and high end Xmas market prices.cant believe it's still going,London must be full of rich/ mad people.good luck!
  • An Christmas event in one of the most expensive areas of Europe and people are suprised that the costs are on the high side?
