Hi
So iv been with Lloyds for about 7-8yrs but in that time all they have given me is a crappy bank card.
I keep asking them for a bank card I can use in any cash point! - Yes ANY - atm i have one that can only be used in Lloyds machines! (My lloyds happens to be all the way in town, but wait i cant even get the money out for a bus!)
The card has a chip and pin so im able to use it in any store which has chip and pin..
Before I was getting cash back in my local sainsburys when i did the food shop so i had some cash!
However since going over to Lloyds Bank not TSB - they have not allowed me too a error comes up saying "This card is unable to use this transaction"
Having spoken to the bank, the manger ect because i have £2000+ a month going in my account and i work.. I just want a NORMAL card! - Im not asking for a over draft (because i got into debt before) I just want a card to use at the cash point to take money out so i can actually get a bus or pay for my sons school trips dinners ect, without having to wait for family or friend to drive me or loan me money to get to the bloody bank!
I was told, I have to keep my money in my account, because normally like a normal person i have to pay my bills, food shop, rent ect so there is about 30-40 week left - on rare occassion i have 100 extra sitting there.. But the bank want me to leave at least 200 in there a week the terms used were " Think of £200 as £10 and leave it in there, then in a year or so we will talk again"...
Well that £200 is a lot of money to leave sitting in my account!
Why is it, i cant get my money out and they just want it to sit there?

I'm assuming you have a cash account?
Ask if you can upgrade your account to a classic account or make an application for one.
This will then give you the ability to use any ATM.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
Sounds like you do have a cash account.
The card should work in Sainsburys - maybe something is physically wrong with the card?
Supposedly you can use also use Bank of Scotland and Halifax cash machines (possibly TSB ones aswell) if you have any of those nearby.0 -
Or you could use it to withdraw at a Post Office if one is closer? If all else fails, move banks.0

That might be the clue.
How long ago and how serious was your debt problem? Did you go bankrupt, IVA, did the bank have to write off monies you owed?
You might consider making a new start and open a basic account elsewhere.0 -
I had a similar problem years ago with NatWest. I had a card that just refused to work at any ATM, even their own.
After three replacements, they still couldn't fix it.
I moved banks that day.0 -

The debt wasnt big was only a grand, which my nan paid off for me. Iv done a credit search thing and because i have not had any credit since or been on a contract ect its still pretty poor. The debt was about 6yrs ago now.
Yes think its a cash card, Thing is there happy to give me 2 savings accounts which i hardly use - just switch some money for bills and holidays in the accounts.
Dosnt seem to work in most cash points, the sainsburys up the road form me says its Bank Of Scotland but then refuses it, and again Halifax is in town! - I tried the post office but again wouldnt allow it!
Just really annoys me, all i want is a card with chip and pin that allows me to withdraw my money out of the cash point! - How hard can it be..
I dont get why they limit you, when you have funds!0 -
Rather than spending time on here discussing it may be better for you to call them up and ask about either upgrading your account or opening a new classic account the beauty of it is they are open now waiting to take your callIm an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0

You said you have spoken to the manager it sounded to me this was done in branch, unless you spoke to manager in telephone banking etc.
If your credit files are clean there should be no reason why you could not open a classic account.
Call them on 01733 347007 and just say you want to open a classic account or upgrade do not enter into any other conversation with them regarding your cash account unless they mention it.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0
