Hi
I was just wondering if anybody has had EMDR? If so did it help you?
Thanks
Gwen

I haven't had it but it is used within the line of work where I am employed. Has had good results and some practitioners prefer it over CBT to help with trauma.0

Can't give healthcare related advice or experiences on here, its part of the T&Cs.0

I think Gwen80 is fully aware of that, being a regular poster on these boards and in fairness I think she's a little bit more switched on to take stranger's word as gospel.
I think she's just after experiences2014 Target;

I hadn't realised I was so well known, but thank you. I am just looking to hear about people's experiences - I went for this reason, it helped me...sort of thing. If I got ten replies and all say it's not helped them, then I wouldn't be quite as inclined to pursue it. I'd save my time and try something else instead, that's all.Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending0

Why not ask the provider of the EMDR? I'm sure they can provide more information.
And EMDR is used for treatment for different things, so what one has won't suit for another.0 -

I suppose the provider aren't going to say negative things about it, are they? OP wants opinions from people generally, not from the company flogging it!
I've never heard of EMDR myself, so can't really advise, but there's been a lot of threads asking if people have ever tried such-and-such a therapy. It's not giving medical advice, I don't think.0 -

EMDR isn't used very often in the UK, and when it is, it is usually done by one of only a handful of professionals in the field. Its quite widely used in the US, so asking a provider for testimonials would be useful in this context, as the number of people who have had EMDR in the UK is small to start off with, let alone people who use this forum also.
And again, it depends on the condition that the OP wants the information from, as it is used to treat more than one thing.0 -

Not infamous way though gwen80!
I've just read a couple of your threads to come to the conclusion that you seem pretty much switched on about life and am not one of these ' someone who I doubt I will ever meet in RL said on the internet......' and take it as gospel.
Has anyone else noticed recently that there seems to be an influx of posters who joined many moons ago, posted a handful of times and then disappeared only to reappear now???2014 Target;

Yes. I had it to treat PTSD and it hugely improved my life. I don't know what I can say or not on these forums, but if you have any specific questions feel free to PM.0

Not had it personally, but it is normally very effective and immensely life changing. Some NHS trust will provide others won't and you'll have to go private.0
