Can you sue a referee?

This is actually a valid point. If we were to get past the duty of care point (which we wouldn't, but still) the question would then be whether or not the referee failed to reach the standard of competence of a reasonably skilled referee. Referees are certainly never expected to be flawless, so there would be a real question as to whether the referee was negligent or not. Simply making an incorrect decision is certainly not sufficient in and of itself to show negligence; the circumstances would be highly relevant.Did the ref fail to see it because of incompetence, positioning, or because football refuses to use video technology, such as is used in tennis, cricket, rugby, motorsports,..."MIND IF I USE YOUR PHONE?
